I doing this again this year as I can't get Good Friday off work to do the Rás Mumhan which starts on Friday. It a great race and we had a great team in it last year, and great craic. All info on the website below, or ask Alfie our super road rider from last years Gorey, up the road Alfie, savage. Anyone else thinking of doing it?
Entries are now OPEN fro the 2012 An Post Gorey 3 Day. The event once again takes place on Easter Weekend 7th -9th April. Numbers are restricted to 180 riders. There have been many enquiries already so it is expected to fill up very fast.
i'd love to do it. but, not sure if i'm willing to put in the hours in the saddle before then. trying to get back into running at the moment. whats the story with signing up, do you submit all the epic club entries together?

It's better this way, the riders will be given consecutive race numbers if they sign on together, which then means they will start the TT around the same time.
I won't be doing it this year, I simply can't afford it (need to put cash aside for the ROC), it means I won't be doing the stage race in Kerry either...
I'll try and do some other road races though, they are great for getting some essential speed into the legs.
I'd also be interested in doing it, however I have an A4 license so that rules me out straight away
I think I'd get a few more road races under your belt before trying the Gorey Rob! Touch base with Morty and I'm sure he'd give you some advice but I'm guessing it's as much about "race craft" as sheer fitness!

We (as a club) should decide on what road races to do,so we get a good group of us at them. I reckon the're pretty crap if your on your own etc..
Rob, they no longer allow you to upgrade your license if you had a A4 one last year, the only way to upgrade is to get the points, a couple of people have be caught out with upgrading, this year with, so my advice to anyone would be to get a A3 license if you had never had a road licence (full comp) as the A4 are restricted in lenght..
The Gorey is also a hard race and harder if you want to do something in it, my advice would be to try a few races and get the speed in the legs, Also A2's are allowed in the race so its quick. If anyone is thinking of doing it PM, but get in the entry forms straight away as I would say it would be full in a matter of days.
Yeah the Gorey is hard enough but I think only on the second day, that was my impression anyway as a first timer last year. The trickiest bit is to stay in one piece throughout and don't get spat out the back, that's why some road race experience is essential.
I did 3-4 races before Gorey last year and I felt comfortable enough.
Also if you want to do something in it a proper team is essential.

and i checked out availability and it looks pretty full so if you want to stay there (as that's where most of the irish stay) then get moving.
flights too aren't too bad i got mine for 168 return including 1 bag, and not including bike, which is approx 80 return.
The dates im going out are 10-10 and back on 15 monday
