I know nothing of this sport of madness. The only thing I know about it is that people cycle on muddy grass on some sort of mutant bike. If I was to buy one of these machines I would find myself single, would people laugh and point and post pictures of me on facebook if I turned up on a mountain bike? Just wonderin loike!

I did one of the B races a couple of years ago on my hardtail and enjoyed it. The problem with an mtb is that you will have to jump off the bike and carry it at least once per lap and that will really slow you down and that's when all the skinny roadies will pass you again.
It's great craic though, if I had a bike and some kind of fitness I would defo do a few races.
Still confused with this so called sport Batser, what's with the carrying of the mountain bike, are you made do it? Surely there's nothing you can't pedal on the mtb that a cx yokey bike can! I blame you RL for my interest in this grass racing, you put it in my head!
What a brilliant day out! Fabulous venue and brilliant organisation. You can't beat Cross for close racing - 6 of us finished within 30 seconds and were constantly overtaking and been overtaken! Huge turnout too. And home for 2.30pm as well.
Don't knock it if you haven't given it a go!
Well I did the race also and talk about the drama. I got a set of tubulars from Alfie and Robin and being a liability on a bike I hadnt a clue and was working overseas and couldn't pick anyones brains on the things, so I googled tyre pressure and everyone said sure start at 30psi and work from there and some lads said 'I roid at 15psi' so I in my wisety put 30psi in the things and rode a lap, cycled up the kicker, but felt the rim at the change of angle and made a mental not to get back to the car and put more air in, did so and my new tubular tyre burst, wandered back the start looking for a spare wheel as I hadnt time/bothered to put some in the car, met Robin who checked out what I'd done and the look on his face told me all when I informed him of my tyre presure etc. he gave me a spare back wheel of his and I walked sheepishly to the start and did the race.... now i have to figure out how to fix these damnable tubulars... wheel OK thank god.
Robin put 42psi in my front tyre, who knows what was in the back, I didn't question it, but it was grand... jaysus I am too old and crap for all this! Back in b;***y Finland again...
But maybe a lesson to anyone else thinking of tubs..... Graham?? Richard??
Apparently they are deadly.... in the right hands perhaps :-)
