Wicklow 200

I've just signed up, it's 12th of June this year bang in the middle between 2 NPS races so perfect timing (for a change).

I've never actually done it so I'm looking forward to it.

Anyone else interested?
Done it on the 30th Anniversity of the event a few years back, gale force winds, rain and temp never went above 8c for the whole day, hell on wheels!!
Having said that,I'd do it again, but it would have to be dry.I'll think about it over the next few days.

If I decide not to do it,the bedwetters will snap up my entry in the days leading up to the event!!
Agreed, it's a fair weather event for sure. I remember that year when you did it, looked grim!
Mick Byrne memorial is also worth considering. Better event for a better cause.
I did the Mick B last year, much tougher than the WW200.Well organised, food stops etc and a real test of endurance.
Date seems ok for that too. Don't like that it goes along the Military Road though, it's rough and very exposed, most of it anyway!
It's this Sunday! I'm doing it if it doesn't rain, anyone else signed up?

Pretty sure sign on is long since closed Max?
I entered months ago. Hopefully the weather clears up a bit by Sunday. Never got the chance to do it because of the XC races so I'm looking forward to it.

Hi All,

I have an entry I'm not able to use do to a sick wife and baby.

If anyone is interested I'm based in Stillorgan.

Cheers,

Well Max Power, how was the W200 for you? Seemed like a tough day with rain and mist etc?
Very heavy rain for the first 30min or so, then dry until the Wicklow Gap which was in the clouds and quite cold. Rode non stop for the first 80 to the Baltinglass lunch stop had a 5min break and then did another leg to Rathdrum. The roads around there were quite monotonous but the two big climbs kept me occupied. The south climbs up Slieve Maan and Shay Elliot were like a sun trap, really warm. The 3rd leg was the hardest, after the beautiful descent to Avoca the roads turned into those narrow and never ending short climbs, hard to keep a nice rhythm on those. Finished in 7:50h, 7:25h riding time. I was going really easy for the first 4h and pushing a bit when I knew I was going to make it :)
I'd do it again but with a group, just more craic and we would get around a bit quicker too.
