Ah yeah great racing today at the first fixx race
Cool to see so many epic jerseys in the field a few in the kids races too
I got off to a good start in the top ten through the first lap burped the tire and pulled it off the rim on the second lap
Got to the pits and sorted myself out and got back into the race maybe 35th and managed to claw myself back into 20th spot at the finish race could have went better but delighted to be riding well
Kids race was the highlight of the day, there must have been sixty of them
Great crack today, but really a roadie course. So much to learn. Feckin planks (Quinlan). And on my last run up that stupid slope, my legs gave in. Still some way of getting motivated, with baldy (insole maker) Mic, breathing down my neck for last two laps. And the lad on the microphone referring to me as mc nipples. That made me smile. Great support from everyone cheers and especially to Evan for getting me a slot. Cheers
That was tough but fun, didn't think I would be anywhere near top 10, and wouldn't have been up there if it wasn't for the session with coach quinlan, I didn't try his bunny hops though :) Great results from the club, navan next, Yey
Great day out for all the family with Evan in the U6s (I think the 20 or so warm up laps might have taken it out of him by the time the race started :-) and me in the B's. Delighted with the result - 9th overall and 5th in Vets. Had a slow start (I think I was mid-pack on the start line) with a lap time of 11.10. After that I was fairly consistent at roughly 9 minute laps. I eased off the gas in the corners from half way round the 4th lap as I was loosing air from the rear tyre and I was worried about pealing it off. I don't think it mattered to the overall results but it will matter in terms of the griding for the next round!
Ah the agony of CX, how could you not love it. Great racing as the lads have said. We were blessed with the weather for the B race. Had a great battle with McNipples, kept the gap steady after he went by but just couldn't close it. Next time (maybe)... Were there prizes for each cat Graham ? We headed off after the A race not having a clue where we came. And is there a link to the other CX races series that I've seen mentioned here ? Thanks
