You want to talk to Barry Redmond of first-response.ie , I've worked as an outdoor instructor for about 15 years now and done REC 3 / 4 five times at this stage and Barry hands down delivers the best course I've had.
To fill a course takes 12 participants and the course cost the same if full or not and if full expect to cost around â¬140 per person, if you want to and AED certification to the course its an additional â¬10 or there abouts.
The REC 3 course generally works out time wise as a Friday Evening from 6-9 , Saturday from 9 -8 and Sunday 9- 5. Of course thats only rough outline.
You need a venue also, I know of a potential place in roundwood if there isnt an easy / cheap place in Dublin.

I would like to organize a course before the end of June, can everyone who is interested in doing it please PM me. The cost will be €140-€160 depending on the number of people. As Adrian wrote in the post above, it takes a whole weekend.
you might want to explain what a rec 3 is and if you have to do a rec 1 or 2 before doing the 3...
Rescue Emergency Care Level 3, it's a First Aid qualification which focuses on real outdoor emergency situations.
Level 3 is the most comprehensive and is required by Cycling Ireland and some other sports authorities if you want to coach or lead groups outdoors. You don't need to have level 1 or 2 to do 3.

REC there are two types - Remote Emergency Care or Rescue Emergency Care are both similar first aid qualifications which are suitable for those working or involved in the outdoors. They are awarded by by different bodies with Rescue Emergency Care being internationally recognised but I could have that the wrong way around.
You do not have to have either REC 1/2 done to do a REC 3 course and your probably best off just go do REC 3 if you have the time / funds.
It is a really worthwhile course for anyone that spends any amount of time in the outdoors with some great skills that will stand to you in every day first aid also.

Myself ,Colm and RL did it in the Brockagh centre I think it was called in Laragh. It was €120 and done over 2 days, jeasus I couldnt face 3 days of it!!!

Yeah, we did the REC 2 course in mid June 2010. It has to be revalidated every three years.
