More trail messing in Leadmines..

I was in the Leadmines last night with a few friends. It seems like someone definitely doesn’t want bikers on the track…there were large rotten trees dragged across section 2 and 3 of the race track every 50M or so. The stones on the big berm of the last section were removed. Just as you get to the very end and turn left there was a big heavy branch balanced on a small branch overhead across the trail….seriously dangerous and malicious. We cleared it all quickly enough, but it was definitely not just a casual ‘throw down a few branches to annoy them’ act….

The Rock Dropper of Three Rock is Branching out!

Yep! this happenend on 3-Rock some years ago and nearly killed a few unsuspecting riders on occasion as v large rocks were placed in the middle of the track just around blind downhill corners... as you say Jacq, its def more of a malicious nature than a casual act... If they, or the individual in question has so much time on their hands it would be more beneficial if they went around the area and cleaned up the copious amounts of dog crap... its ridiculous up there! On a similar note... Anyone remember the homeless guy who lived in Kindlestown Wood? I nearly decapitated myself one evening as he had a tendency to tie nylon stockings from tree to tree... not funny!! Ok, well maybe a little bit!

The guy on 3 Rock who is doing it there is up to this for the last 4/5 years or so, daily, as most of us know! He walks 3 dogs, two golden retrievers and a darker dog which I'm not sure what it is, anyhow I only know this because my missus saw him in the rock and tree dragging act last week!

He claims some guy on an MTB hollered at him and his dogs to GTF out of the way a few years ago and now has it in for us all. Ken is right, has nearly claimed some serious victims over the years and must really be stopped, although I think diplomacy might be the way as he has already had a bad experience with verbal ! ;-)

The point here is that someone is now doing the same to the club course in the leadmines. This is pretty worrying particularly after the recent smashed glass incident! Can't imagine these are the same people there is a big difference in stomping on glass bottles to smash their shards into the trail and pulling trees into the way, but you never know....

This has been going on up in the Leadmines for yonks but usually not on the Club track! I've been pulling branches off trails up there for years as has Richie I think? The broken glass was a different thing altogether and hopefully was a drunken shower of "scrotes" just being arseholes rather than any deliberate attack on mountain bikers! I would be surprised if it was the same people!

yeah..periodically people put branches across the trail up there, I still think the broken glass was a vindictive mountainbiker though and eventually somebody will talk, they always do.

The same bullsh1t happens regularly on my local trails up the Hellfire Club. I end up clearing rocks, branches etc every other time I'm up there. I reckon it's just so many walkers feel offended by the site of mountain bikers having more fun then them on their mountain.

i think this is the essence of the problem !!

looks like you either missed the sabotage in the 2nd and 3rd sections ,Jackie or they were busy when you left..some serious thought has gone in to the trail sabotage, they have even taken to chopping the branches off the trees..what is the mind set behind this latest madness..pulling berms apart , this really smells

Yep myself the Mulveys and Andy had to clear section 3 from start to finish, this is not good!

Thanks so much for doing that before the race guys. very concerning to think somebody might be targeting the club course specifically not just any of the trails

We should stash a few go pros up in a couple of trees on time lapse and try identify the cnuts

thats not a bad idea...its a very aggressive campaign, the funny thing is I have only met friendly walkers up there lately..I haven't seen any cranky ones at all. I guess I am going to have to bring Scooby for more walks up there now and ask my friends who train up there with there swords to keep an eye out.
