This was a super race in the beautiful settings of castlewellan forest, lake and castle. the lap had a couple of killer climbs and some great technical stuff in the forest which was made even trickier by rain the day before. it had one great bomb hole feature and lots of great singletrack before coming back into the large start / finish field & a climb up to the finish line. It was nip & tuck for the first lap, I got a good gap on 2nd & 3rd laps thinking I was getting away only to be chased down on the last lap and had a mad sprint to the flag winning by less than half a wheel on the line, all very exciting!!

I'd highly recommend Castlewellan for a day on the bike, some great trails!
