Rec Level 3 First Aid Course for Adventure Sports, 16th/17th of Sept.

I'm looking for people interested in doing this, I don't have an exact location yet but it'll be in Wicklow or Dublin. The cost of the course is €125 per person, the club has agreed to pay €25 of this, bringing the cost down to €100 each. You'll need to give up two full days for this over the weekend but the skills learnt could save your live or you could end up saving someone else's so it's more than worth it. I need to get numbers so let me know asap!

16th Sept 2017 to 17thAug 2017

Location: East Wall Water Sports Centre, East Wall, Dublin. Position N53.3600 W-006.2281 (N53.21.35.84 W006.13.41.22)
5 mins from the Port Tunnel. 5 mins walk from Fairview (Clontarf Rd) DART station.
Parking at centre available.

Cost of course €125.00 (non-residential) 12 Places only.

Start time: Saturday 16th Sept: 09:00hrs to 20:00hrs
Start time: Sunday 17th Sept: 09:30hrs to 17:00hrs

Equipment: Please bring clothing suitable for outdoors. Tide dependent, we may run a water based rescue scenario.
Note book/pen, course notes will be provided.

All training equipment provided.

Facilities: Tea/Coffee biscuits provided, short distance to supermarket/McDonalds/Costa for rolls, sandwiches etc. Microwave available on site.

Well that was fantastic! Thanks Steve for arranging it, can't recommend this course highly enough. It's a lot to take in over a weekend and they are long days, but they fly past with the mix of theory and practical work and Mick presents things very well in terms of understanding the whole process physically and physiologically.

I pray I never get to use what I've learnt but I'm bloody glad to have learnt it

I'm shattered after that! Two long days of theory and practical skills with Mick Treacy from Adventure Medics. Although we were all there for the remote care aspect of first aid care it's something that is useful in everyday use, at 41 I finally learned cpr and with that how to use a defibrillator(actually very easy). Mick is a great teacher, thanks Max for the recommendation, he's full of great stories and is so good at explaining stuff. This afternoon we had a host of different outdoor scenarios to deal with, I was team leader for the last one, well out of my comfort zone for this, felt like I had cycled up Scarr after the 20 minute scenario was over, I was wasted! Great to have done it, I put it off for so long. Thanks for coming lads (Ronan O'Shea from Team Giant was with us too) good to have more people with first aid skills in Epic and the mountain biking community.

Yes a long but very interesting weekend, thanks for organising Stephen, great craic hanging out with you guys.
