I'm planning to make a comeback into the Enduro racing scene this season so it's time to think about some race specific training between now and April.
Starting on Saturday the 20th of January I'll be running Enduro specific training sessions (not spins) and those will include:
- trail reading, line choice, practice, race preparation and strategy
- working on speed, body positioning, braking and efficient use of the gears
- enduro specific conditioning, sprints, out of the saddle work, pacing
- skill drills
The sessions will take at least 2h each and although they will not be flat out spins they will be physically demanding (especially as we get closer to the summer).
They will be run each Saturday in a Dublin / Wicklow venue focusing on one trail / part of the trail each Saturday. Each session will end with a 20min skill drill.
Who is it for?
Experienced riders who are comfortable riding rough trails at speed, these will not be basic skills sessions. Having said that we won't be doing any large jumps, drops etc. The focus will be on the ability of carrying the speed, smoothness and efficiency.
What you will need?
Willingness to learn, suitable bike with good tires, dropper post, knee pads recommended.
I'll be posting each session in the Spins sections
What I initially had in mind would not be suitable for a lot of the Saturday spinners, I planned the sessions to be challenging for me and riders of a similar ability.
However, let's do the first one and see how we get on, I won't throw you in at the deep end I promise!
You can then decide yourself if you want to continue.
The sessions are progressive, you can jump in at a later stage but you won't get out as much out of them as if you stated with everyone else. The last few will have pretty challenging features to go over and I'm planning to do some timed runs too.
