K Capital marshal / Volunteer thread, Sunday 14th Djouce 8:00

Hi guys,

As we all know by now we are hosting the 3rd round of the K Cap series in Djouce woods this Sunday 14th, by it's very nature Djouce is a fantastic but yet challenging place to run any event, so we really will need as many people on the ground as possible. Terry, Chris and the committee have been flat out working on making this event happen so this is a chance for the rest of us club members to do our bit and give back. Probably best to bring clothes for all weathers and a fully charged mobile phone is essential incase we have any incidents or injuries.

Please make the effort to get down for 8:00 as it we will have a million things to do.

1. Starting and finishing
2. Getting the kids set up for the next race
3. Person handing out medals

Sign-on from 9:30
10:30 – U6 & Strider race
10:45 – U8 race
11:00 – U10 race
11:15 – U12 race

Thanks Neville, it would be brilliant for all the epic crew who wanted to race did, but we definitely wont have a surplus of marshals judging by the numbers so far, as it is a good few people already on the list wants to race and the fact that all the senior races are running at around the same time will leave us very tight for bodies. It would be great racing if everybody who wanted to race could and it would get the numbers up aswell but the only way I could see us having enough marshals would be if people could recruit a family member or willing friend to take there spot, its handy enough number in fairness but necessary if we want to run the event especially with usual walkers and nutters not to mention rider/spectator safety. I would be bringing the bike for sure, with abit of luck we will get a good turn out and no harm to have wheels to get to the marshal points as some of them are a good walk away.

I'm kinda the same, I would like to race and can come earlier and work and course clear afterwards but if there is a shortage and a need I will marshal A and B and course clear.
No bout we will have a rip around after anyway

I’m doing sign in and my daughter is in the U8 race, otherwise I should be good to marshal as long as I can stay with my daughter.

Don't forget you can bring family and friends, they can marshal while you race!

A few notes for Sunday and thanks to all who have volunteered so far
Please come dressed for whatever the weather may hold. Umbrellas/rain coats/sunscreen/midge repelent/wooly hats/sun hats. (Forcast looks cool and dry).
Please bring a fully charged mobile phone for contact on the day
Please report to sign on desk on arrival sign on and collect hi vis
Below are a few points to note if have you not marshalled before
Marshalls are located at designated points around the event area for safety, directing competitors and managing spectators while riders are racing and during practice laps
Be visible – all stewards/marshals must wear a hi-vis jacket
It is essential that’s marshalls do not abandon there location until relieved or races are over
Be loud and clear – keep the instructions clear and audible use whistle if nessacery
Point – a visual instruction is often better than a verbal one
Be aware of competitors and spectators coming
Remember you are in charge, not the competitors or spectators
If you feel there is a problem ring for advise , get help
Direct cars to designated parking areas
If you see any suspicious behaviour or persons pass on info
You most likely will be asked whats going on by members of the public if polite answers are not acceptable refer them down to the sign on area if your being hassled by anybody or threatened get help
