I sat through the CI AGM this morning. It was the usual stuff you would see at an AGM; voting on minutes from last year, finance statement, voting on positions etc. In terms of the implications of the decisions for Epic MTB, there are relatively few.
The issue that will impact on you are the changes in the licence fees:
Competitive licence: 130
Limited Comp: 90 euro
As a club member you need to have one or other of these licences.
There have been substantial change to the Leisure Licence fees including an increase in the fee, a change to 3rd party only and increase in the one day licence option, from 10 - 20 euro. Taken together, these changes mean that a rider with this licence who participated in one Blitx and one CX race would pay the same as someone with a Limited Comp licence (and have a lower level of insurance). The reality is that the latter changes do not affect club members as you need to have either a Competitive or Leisure Licence.
So what's driving this change... insurance. The insurance costs (individual and event insurance) have gone up by over 200,000 to 620k since 2017 when the licence fees were last reviewed. Income is down in loads of areas, particularly event income, e.g. the Dublin Bike Ride is a big earner that has not gone ahead for obvious reasons.
