Epic mtb 2020 agm

Hi All,

The annual AGM should be taking place at this time of year, but with all the restriction in place we are not able to meet up to eat drink and be merry.
So a decision has being made on that basis the AGM is postponed till a later date when we can all get together and meet up.

This year’s term of service for the current committee is coming to an end several members will be stepping down which will leave vacancies to be filled.

If you ever had a niggling interest, now would be a good time to take the plunge.
We need new ideas and energy to recover from all the restrictions of 2020 and plan forward to 2021.

If you have any queries, please get in contact with myself or any one of the committee.

A report on 2020 activities will be sent out via email to all members when finalised in a weeks time.

Sorry to hear you had to postpone. We had the MAD one on Friday via Zoom and it worked surprisingly well. There was the usual presentation and then a load of breakout rooms for a few hours of chats after. The club subsidised beer and take-away, which helped! But with 6 or 8 per breakout room, it felt like we were all sitting around a table. And it was easy to switch between rooms and have the craic with different conversations. Was good to see people again. The breakout rooms were what made it. And not a poxy quiz in sight, thank christ! Just mentioning this, in case it might work for Epic.

Committee
This year’s term of office for the current committee has come to an end.

A request/invitation has been notified to the members on forum https://forum.epicmtb.com/showthread...166#post202166

Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, plus 3 members are required
to make a committee of 6 to run the affairs of the club.

The following members have stepped forward to take on the task.

Chair Person Dave Meridith, Secretary Keith Greenan, Treasurer Michael O’Reilly, Ronan Kearney ,Garry Coyne, Ruairi Devoy

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the incoming committee all the best for the incoming year and hope members will step forward when assistance is required to run spins, club league, trail work and other activities.

Thanks Terry for all the work on behalf of the club over the past few years in your capacity as Chairman and, continuing your role as spin leader extraordinaire and recruiter of new members (including myself).

Normally (pre March 2020) we would have had an opportunity to say nice things / slag you at the AGM. Until we can have a meeting of the club, everyone should chip in below and show their appreciation for Terry and thank him in person on a spin for the huge amount of work that went unseen (and interfered with evenings, weekends and personal life). Thanks also to Erica, Niall and Ben for their stints on the Committee.

totally - Thanks Terry - the maker of the best spins on the planet, when we think of Epic, we think of that Spirit of Adventure - and Terry embodies that. Bike parks, and trail centers are great and all, but those spins where you haven't a clue where you are going, and how you'll ever get back are the essence of the club. You leave thinking 'where are we going today', then 15 mins in your thinking 'where the heck am I?' then 3 and half hours fly by and you're back at the car, thinking 'how'd I get here?' and that's only the spins, then there's everything else too! (the XC racing the CX racing, the taking on every trail and mashing it, and lots more) (not to mention the organization stuff . . .)

Yes indeed, thanks Terry for all the work over the years - leading spins, coordinating events, looking for venues, chairing and guiding the committee, seeking out volunteers, running the club champs, looking after the newbies, etc., etc. There's a lot of personal time and effort gone into all that. Thank you!

Also thanks to the other committee members retiring this month - Erica, Niall, and Ben. All the work done behind the scenes leading spins, running the league, club gear, social spins, running CX and K-Cap races, etc.

None of you are off the hook though - ye can still do the same whether on the committee or not. Same goes for all the members!

See y'all out there in 2021!
