All bar one of my mountain bikes have been used but Iâm trying to decide on a new bike and think a new bike is in order but Iâve no idea what to look for.
Iâve only one mtb so itâs needs to be versatile and my current bike is a 2016 Giant Trance Advance 27.5 which is a great bike but Iâm after a 29er.
I really like the Santa Cruz bikes and will have a chat with Alfie but just thought it would be interesting to hear about what everyone is riding and what they think I should get.
My budget is about â¬4000 max and I suppose itâs a case of what I can actually buy as much as what Iâd like.

I'd say that brands are personal preference so go for whatever fits you and your riding style.
If you don't get out much then you won't have the fitness to drag a heavy bike around or preload the long travel properly.
Then is a question of fashion and if that matters to you (expensive boutique brands like yeti, SC, Ibis vs budget brands like Giant, Cube, Canyon etc...).

Personally I'd go for a good suspension set up on a non carbon frame, something like the Nukeproof Reactor for example.

I’m also no bike snob, I’ve had mostly Giant bikes which I actually really like. I’ve a carbon bike now but am not fussed about carbon on a new bike.

If I had plenty of money I’d buy an expensive bike but I don’t and I really can’t justify spending a lot on a bike that I don’t use very often.
My ideal bike is a second had one really!
