Planning for 2021

HI All,

It has been a very quite start to the new year for the club given all the restrictions but the Committee has been working away in the background to get things in place for whenever the restrictions are eased/lifted.

In summary:
1. Club League: As of today, we have all the permits / insurance in place for the 2021 League. Assuming that we are allowed, the league will run between May and September. In advance of this, we will need to do a bit of course maintenance and create a new exit to Section 1. Over the lockdown(s) the course is being heavily used so it may require a bit more maintenance this year.

2. Spins: Those of you in the club when Richie was around will remember his weekly spin plan. This was posted each Sunday and listed the spin, the spin leader and general route info. We will be bringing this back to allow people to plan ahead. We are looking at ways to improve progression within the club, i.e. get people out on more spins, and have a regular social spin.

3. Kids: The committee have been working away to get the Club in compliance with Child Protection/Safe Guarding policies and Roo (club Child Protection Officer) has been Garda vetted and completed the Safe Guarding course. Now that this work is underway, we plan on having regular session/spins for kids once allowed/the weather improves.

4. Skills: We are looking at how we can support skill development within the club... early days on this so if you have any ideas post up here.

5. We'll look at the possibility of organizing an event (CX Race?) later in the year. Ideally, we would do this in a private venue to cut down on the marshaling requirement - so keep you eye's peeled for suitable venues and get in contact with the committee with any suggestions.

Finally, if there are other things that you would like to suggest, post below and we'll see what we can do.

Cheers,

Dave
thanks Dave, I greatly appreciate the hard work that you and the committee do.

I can't wait to try a few races again - XC, Enduro and CX. Really looking forward to Terry's spins too (and Timmons!) those long over-mountain adventures are very special and something I bet many people miss! There's a lot to look forward too

I'll be happy to help with trail maintenance and I think brining in new members is always a help with that too! thanks Committee.
agree fully with Harri!
Thanks for all the work, great to see some new ideas coming, generally can't wait to get going be it spins, league or maintenance work. Will be particularly interested in skills development - Improving on these makes riding more enjoyable in the long term. There's only so much youtube videos can teach - having someone teach you face-to-face is the only way to do it right.
Great to have something to look forward to, well done for all the work behind the scenes. I’m keen to get cracking on the coursework. Have access to a few tons of hardcore from my neighbour at the top of Barnaslingan Lane. We better take it sooner than later. Can we get the key to the gate at the leadmines? I’ll see if he will drop it to the finish line for us.

I did a few laps in the Leadmines today testing out the coures and riding the new switchbacks at the end of section 1.

Great work by Max and the guys in getting this done and hopefully we will be able to race there soon enough.

Check out the full lap in the link below
