Well that's it! Thank **** says some of you. A gruelling last race was a fitting finish to a brilliant season lasting almost half a year. A real test. Well done all involved, and a massive cheer for Richard L!!
yeah easily the best club league to date..fantastic, fair play to everybody involved, from the time keepers, the cheerleaders, Fergal Kilkenny and Gav Doran who tweaked the software, all the committed riders from all the clubs who supported the races, thank you, Richie

that was a brilliant and intense season of racing, it was great to be able to give a bit back to a league which I thought was a real treat every Thurs eve in 2008 but this year was so much better
maybe it was the huge attendances, meeting all the new riders - especially seeing lads from Juniors to Super Vets all getting on like a house on fire, seeing the amazing progression of riders lap times from round 1 all the way to round 20, the pints of sauce and chat and craic in the pub, the track that always was a challenge, wet or dry and the diggers who helped make it even better
as a non-EPIC member it was like being part of a big family of crazed relations and I think all non-EPIC members were made to feel very welcome - you just needed to get stuck in and give it your best
I'll miss it but I'm already looking forward to it's return!

Great introduction to XC racing, wasn't going to do it at first, because I thought I wouldn't be into it , how wrong was I !!!
So a big thanks to all fellow racers for the advice, encouragement Etc. and obviously to all the timers and of course to Richie, Fergal, Bon and all who invested their time.
A big thanks to everyone who did such an amazing job, Fergal and his timing transformed the event into something we all want to be a part of, the prompt posting of times, Richie and his helpers for constantly working and refining the course, it just gets better and better, Richard L for winning with such authority, style and humour, the timekeepers, all the kids, the photographers, the list is endless. A special mention to the handicap system that has favoured the non racer types and kept us all interested, and to the obvious savages who have tolerated being beaten week in, week out by people who are much slower than them. EPIC has achieved many things, but I think the club races have been it's greatest success.

its a shame a lot of members don't take advantage of what we do with the Club league, it and the Sunday spins are what EPIC is all about, not XC Racing or DH racing but just honest to goodness having the craic on the bike and getting better.
Theres really no point in joining EPIC and not taking part at some stage. Its where all the members new or experienced, young and old regardless of their shape, size, sexual preference can meet up and have the craic.
The craic in the Pub afterwards is always legendary, we even have non club members join us in there for a pint.
So many people have benefitted from this league and the efforts made by people like BON and Fergal are invaluable.
It meant a lot to me as President of EPIC to see riders from so many other clubs getting involved, especially Fergal, Oisin and Ryan from MAD, the Rocky mountain lads, Richie Felle, Robin,Gar maguire all injected personality and character in to the races. Thanks guys, we had more ladies in our Thursday night races than the open ones.
The craic in the pub though..the stories and the slagging..
Ublike most of you i know exactly what I'll be doing on Thursdays over the Winter, i'll be riding my bike , with Alfie,Damo ,Luke and Jack, like I always do. I hope regardless of what Club you're in you'll come along on the Thursday evening night rides,

Thanks guys - a great league and super fun/tricky conditions last night. The additions you guys made to the course recently are great - love the berms.
I had to laugh at Stewart's comments before I started - Robin on his Trance with a single chainring and Ryan with more mudguards hanging off his bike. Sad thing is, I didn't take the mudguards off this summer.
I must say it was great seeing so many MAD and IMBRC lads join in, I had some great battles with Morgan and Gar. More Worcies next year please, they just look so damn shexy.
Well done to all who took part of what is a very slick operation and ofcourse to Richard for winning overall. Fair play to the people who gave up their races to time/take photos or shout encouragement.
Great league again, sorry I missed the last few, looking forward to next year already. How well the course held up through our 'summer' is testament to how much work goes into it by all the trail fairies, fair play lads and lassies.
Was great having instant results and all of Fergals jiggerypokery was great motivation to try to beat your best lap each week
Well done to Richard for the win, Smithers will be back next year for revenge no doubt..
I can't believe it's all over! If anyone had told me this time last year that I would have raced a MTB every Thursday night for 5 months I'd have laughed at them but the whole thing became strangely addictive!!
A big thanks to Richie, Fergal and Bon - it wouldn't happen without them! Also to all the real racers who tolerated being beaten by "goobers" every week but still managed to smile and offer encouragement - Luke and Alfie particularly come to mind!
Obviously "It's not the winning but the participation that counts" but did I mention that I won, I won, I won! (and don't you forget it Smithers and Kelly!)
Im happy for ye... Smithers & Kelly too. You all came to epic and got with the spirit of it. The fact that you improved so much is a bonus. 6 months you were 2..5st heavier, and lived in the granny ring. Keep on the bike and you'll keep progressing. Kelly is racing like a semi pro too. As for Smithers, he's deadly...... a true master.
