XC NPS 2008 your opinions please

Can you remember it. I think it was a joke, just like 2007. I'd say 2009 won't be much better.
I am considering going on the Offroad Commission to try and sort it out. Do I have the Support from the riders or will we just keep our heads down as usual and put up with races few and far between and no real organization. We ran Djouce this year and raised the bar for events.
Is that it.. a shot in the dark
and remember no K Capital Cup next year, so a long dark Winter with nothing to look forward to but Sorrentos race in April.
Are we going to go back to previous times. Mickey mouse events, that get cancelled a week before that clash with the Dh races and are ran half arsed.

Sorry if this sounds like non-support, but you are completely unsuitable for the job. I say this based on your attitude to the sports category, in that
a) they should ride the same course as everyone else
b) they should be challenged
c) they should be somewhat capable mountainbikers before trying a sports race
d) two laps of Djouce Woods, you must be joking?
You obviously have no idea of the untapped potential which is out there for attracting myriad future stars to our sport, when all we have to do is put on a beginner-friendly sports race. Just ask the key members of Ireland's premier elite MTB club, they will tell you honestly and truthfully what needs to be done in our sport.
Also, you might let an A-cat roadie ride a category other than elites just because it's his first mountainbike race. What would the world come to then?
Or bring in standards about the under 8s race having to be on a real track instead of through a field of nettles.
Or behave in an irresponsible manner as a spectator, standing there with your curry-loving chum shouting something about "hooremaster" in front of respectable people's children.
You might also get mistaken for a lazy mongo.

Id imagine its a thankless job with people complaining no matter what you organise...so you'd have to prepare yourself to put up with a load of ****e....

every bleedin year I have to listen to people give out ,quite rightly about the XC NPS. do you want something done about it or are we going to allow the lacklustre Offroad Commission run it in to the ground.
let me know or better yet, let Andy Potts know.
I won't make this offer again. The Offroad Commision has announced that Dromara CC has been granted the XC NationalChamps for 2009..even though EPIC had already applied for it.
Its unlikely that we will run an XC NPS if this is allowed to happen.
So its up to the riders to do something about it.
I have already sent in a complaint to the Board of Cycling Ireland.

What the f**k? who are they? and more importantly where are they?

Im with ya baby 110%...lets kick it into touch.. let the whingers stand a weep as we pull it off big style and show them how its suppose to be done.
Now I imagine there is a **** lot of work involved, so we will need more support form club members.
It not fair to expect you to do everything..so delegate big time.

What races have Dromora hosted this or last year?

none that i'm aware of but apparently its a superb venue !! The Club will really have to be heard on this

2009 MTB/CYCLO CROSS CALENDAR
Would all Off Road Cycling promoters please select a date for next season asap. Please remember that there will not be a K-Capital Cup Series next year. If you have not got a venue sorted yet, please apply for a date anyhow. The Off Road Commission will study all race applications and select those that will be rounds of the XC nad DH NPS. Club's are free to promote other Off Road events, open XC races, endurance races, fun events, etc.

The XC Champs should be run in the North in 2009, Dromara CC have already put forward a proposal to stage the Champs at their superb Dunmore Mountain venue. The Irish Marthon Champs 2009 also require a promoter. A promoter is required for the 2010 Irish Cyclo Cross Champs to be held in Jan 2010.

I have attached the current Cyclo Cross Calendar, these dates were submitted this time last year by the promoting Clubs. As you will see, not one Southern based Club bothered to submit a date! Please get dates in asap...

CONGRATULATIONS
On behalf of the Cycling Ireland Off Road Commission may I congratulate all who took part in the Masters World MTB Championships last week in Pra Loup. Especially well done to Maeve and Beth. It was great to see so many Irish MTB over 30's in France.

Hopefully Robin Seymour has recovered from the illness he contracted in Beijing that forced him to pull out of the Olympic XC race on lap two after he had climbed up to 15th place.

A huge well done to IMBRC for all the work they put into promoting the recent marathon champs...well done, a great day and very well organised. Well done to Commissaire Richie Byrne on his first appointment.
OFF ROAD AGM
The date of the 2009 Off Road AGM will be released shortly. The AGM will take place in the North of Ireland, with the date most likely to be mid October. Those unable to attend will be able to submit motions via email/writing. Full details will follow shortly.
