I'm guessing it'll take a bit of getting used to Don - you can't go taking the same liberties with a 100mm hardtail as with a 140mm full sus! And you'll have to stand up more too!! Slower this week .... but give it a few weeks!!
well to be honest, i was up there lateish last night, and some looney was having a bonfire.
and some other cnuts were trying it on,on their scramblers.
i looked at them like YOU would and it worked,they legged it.
i legged it around and it was as dry as fcuk,

Ironing tape? WTF is that about. Just because u have a head like a mattock and arms like crow bars. Doesn't mean I can't prove myself as a human JCB. I used to breast feed a shovel like any worthy corpo worker.I can stand and talk ****e and point into a hole as good as many a man!!

Well if you are faster than your hardtail and I am slower than my FS then it's pretty conclusive, but if you are slower and I am faster well that is pretty conclusive too, but if you are faster and I am faster then it's all up in the air, and if we are both slower then... ah feck it , I need to, lie down, my brain hurts. We all know it's the tyres not the bikes anyway.
Well the votes are in, 21 seconds quicker! Both laps quicker than last week. No-one more surprised than me, by jaysus I had forgotten how well those yokes climb. BUT the waters are muddied by those feckers Alfie and John who blitzed their best times on their FS machines, and now all my calculations are screwed. It must be the rider of course, but why then do we buy all this feckin gear??!
So what to do?
The HT was fun in a painful kind of a way, it kicked the crap out of my back, but I like technical riding and the HT sure is that, quicker too, (for me but not by much).
The FS is ideally suited the the club course as demonstrated by Robin, Alfie and others, I predict we'll see them more and more, and they sure are comfy. But I am always aware that it's a heavier, more flexy machine.
But I have to say I really enjoyed how responsive and chuckable the HT was, the bike had so much more speed than I was able to get out of it...
