Saturday 22nd Roc training Spin 9:30 Enniskerry (non Roc-ers welcome)

Open to non-ROC people, myself and Jacqui are doing a long spin from Enniskerry that will take in lots of mileage - not too much road and plenty of hills. The pace will be steady with no stops. Should cover in the region of 45-50K in 4+ hours or more if we are going well. Plenty of bailout points along the way.

Meet in the public car park up from the hotel in Enniskerry (with the recycling bins) for a 9:30 start. Bring food, water and supplies for a long one.

Route:
Enniskerry
back road to leadmines
lap of club course
Scalp
road climb up to Glencullen
Freds Field
accross the front of 3 rock via aggro
waterbars to Wokka wokkas
Tuesday night route up to Prince willies
Down Cloon
WW to the back of Crone wood (dont know the names of the trails in here-but do know the way)
Some trails around Djouce if our legs still have anything.
Back to Enniskerry.
Might tag along for this but will intercept at the Leadmines. I will confirm on Fri.
i'm not going to make this , i'm going from Lambe Doyles to glencullen and back on the road from 8.00 if you want to change your start time to a civilized hour though I'll gladly meet you in Enniskerry but you won't because you are scaredy cats !!

That would neither be a civilised hour nor a civilised pace!

Ah .... I knew we'd get you sooner or later!
Paddy, the rules are you can go on my spins if I say its ok..we can't have you going on spins other than mine or Rashers. This is to protect you and the Club. Stick to my spins or Rashers please. The same goes for Dave Conroy.

What a craic'n day for a spin, trails are in great shape. Nice to do a lap of the club course witout battery acid punping through my veins. Nice big loop of Ticknock and then off to knockree where me and Jackie bailed back to Enniskerry and Orla soldiered on to Djouce.
Well I could have stayed out all day if my legs would have let me. Great spin with Jacqui and Oz. It was freezing this morning but by 9-30 the sun was shining and the air had warmed. I put a new chain on last night and left it too long, so I had to stay in the big ring to prevent chain suck. Apart from the first few water bars in 3rock it wasn't actually that bad. Oz kept the pace pacey, and was probably bored waiting for us, but everywhere was just so nice to ride. He had to charm the pants off some cranky lady walker in the scalp, she was ranting and raving like a mad witch, something about having been walking for 100 years, and how dare we intimidate her. By the time Oz had sweet talked her she was saying how nice his lycra was, and his lovely hat and glasses, and if it was 20 years earlier shed love to have his babies.....
Off we went up past Johnny foxes, around the crispy dry trails of 3rock, over by cruagh, and down by cloon. We passed a school tour out walking and they all stood back to let us past. We felt like celebrities as the kids asked their teacher, "how do those girls do that". Jacqui pedaled over all the rocks, which was quite impressive considering I saw one or two big blobs of blood where some one had obviously creamed themselves. Down towards cloon, and we tried to find the trails through the giant ferns. Some craic beating our way through until I realized there was probably giant spiders in there too. Waved a teary goodbye to Oz and Jacqui and headed onwards to knockree. Where were ye all? Down by the river, and hit the wall. Total sugar low. Could barely turn the pedals, so I started stuffing bars, chocolate, gels into my gob. Some adventure race was going on and people kept directing me on the course. The poor lads running up maulin looked miserable so I felt much better!
Into powerscourt, bought a bottle of coke and water and headed up earls drive. Did a few trails, the place is so dry and dusty, and then headed back to enniskerry. The garmin tells me ive burned enough calories to eat a big Mac meal without the guilt.
Fair pplay Orla, how many km's were on your Garmin at the end? There were 70 km on mine and I bailed early
