Saturday 7th March Cruagh Woods 10.00

I will do an old map thingy later, but basically meet 10.00am at Cruagh Woods, if you head towards Johnny Foxes pub, keep going down the Glencullen road towards ,Killakee
Pass Pine Forest and keep left Cruagh Woods is on your left ..Usual Saturday crew or Sunday crew. Anybody who was on the Sunday Social Spin will be well able.
Richie
We went through Cruagh yesterday, the middle link trail from the fireroad to the featherbeds trail is blocked by trees, you can get through but you might be better off aiming for the lower way onto the featherbads trail.

Oh and watch out for the frog spaun, don't get it in your bottle or frogs will grow in your belly.
Cruagh Woods, doesn't that lead to the, errrrm... Bog of Death? 8-(

Frogspawn was good enough for Nelson Muntz to eat, so it's good enough for us.
no my plan is this..
Cruagh - Tibradden, woca wocas
prince Willies ( mini Bog of death)
The Cloon overpass
Featherbed road
Cruaghs back passage
Finish in Cruagh..
Alan, I don't like the way you always make my spins sound like pain and hardship !! I'm beginning to think you are going soft on me..my spins are entertaining and educational !!
I have yet to be on a bad one. Saturdays are chilled out, last week was great, never been on that loop around Cloon before.
God ..... please help business to pick up so that I'm busy on Saturdays again ...... but not 'till next week!!!!
That's a similar route to what I've been doing on my 'training' spins before work lately..

Here's what I do.. meet at my gaff... or at the other shop (can't remember its name) or Marley's carpark... head to Masseys along the road... then its offroad up through Masseys.. along the left hand side of the forest... its a long but gentle climb and a great warm-up.. the trail eventually brings you out on the road just above Cruagh carpark.. then around the side of Cruagh towards Pine Forest.. but instead of going into Pine Forest you turn right.. up the road a bit.. just on the left there is a grassy track (easily missed) that brings you to the bottom of the new trail at the bottom of Tibradden.. from there its over to the Woca's.. then up Fairy.. across to 2 rock.. down the rocky trail towards the golf course.. back onto the fireroad towards the masts.. once your at the masts you can either bail out down Boneshaker or do GerryMac's super awesome deadly spectacular grand tour of 3-Rock... guaranteed NOT to do KDM, the sh!tallite trails or any of the other stoppy starty trails that have no flow...

Usually takes me around 2-3 hours depending on what route I take, what bike I'm on and what mood I'm in.. approx 25-30kms.. again depending on the route..

Its a deadly route especially coz you finish on the right side of 3-Rock making the journey home (or to work in my case) that little bit more pleasant / bearable.. ie no long slog home on the road..

and I love taking 3-Rock from behind.. it always makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.. 8)
In fairness I have always been soft - remember what a gibbering wreck I was on the Bog of Death spin all those years ago.

That said, pretty much every spin since has been deadly - even the pain and hardship.
Ok folks, this will be on a similiar pace to last Sundays social spin, hopefully a bit faster but if you have any doubts about your ability, let me know and I'll put you straight, it'll be the usual theme of XC/FR .

Whats cruagh woods like compared to 3 rock, is it more technical, tougher climbs? How would it be for my second spin?
