That was brilliant fun for a Saturday morning. Great to be out on an Epic Saturday spin again and see a good few members old and new. Tony lead from the front going up and especially down with Alan, Glenn, Nev, Graham, Iomair, Caroline Mc, Caroline Em and Sarah. We started off with an insanely steep trail just to welcome us to Djouce in the slippery mud and then did loads more of the same with lots of skids and smiles. Special mention to Nev and Iomair on their antique 26er’s, particularly Iomair who has been studying hard at the school of Gnar and was throwing his 100mm travel small wheeled bike down trails like a mad man.

Really great turn out this morning, putting me under pressure! Graham thought it would be a good idea to warm up on Dutch Gold lol, what a class trail.
Glenn leading the descents on his beautiful Ibis, nice to have someone to chase.
The trails over at Crone were brilliant as usual, wet and slippy but fun. Did Mars first (crazy fun) then back up to do Alpine and Drifter down to the road.
We lost most of the crew then on the way back up towards ride Rock. Alan, Graham, Iomar and myself soldiered on down the rocky walkers trail to the bridge then up to do stage 5 and finish on Gran Canaria river trail.
Fair play to Caroline McC on starting the spin from Healey's pottery, and Sarah smashing the climbs. Well done to everyone, great morning.
Super fun today, really enjoyed it…well the downhills anyway. Soft day but trails in Djouce and especially Crone held up really well and were dry in the trees. Was heavy legged after about 30 mins and hadn't started the climb over to Crone yet. Not a good sign.
Huffed and puffed my way trying to keep up with the group until we got over to Crone where we started off with Mars all the way to the bottom. Lots of sliding and lots of fun. Back up the switchbacks to Alpine trail, such a lovely trail. Down drifter to the road, body and especially arms killing me, braking fingers were going into spasm near the end! Back up and over to Djouce through Powerscourt where Caroline clearly thought we hadn't done enough mileage and took us the long way home! Legs were hanging off me but thoroughly enjoyed it.
Big group out and everyone was flying it up and down especially Gareth who was able to sink a few beers and watch Netflix on the climbs on his ebike. (Sorry Gareth but there's a 3 month slagging period when you get an ebike )

I thought I was going for the nice trail to start off with but took my own wrong turn and ended up skidding on my ass down that trail above!

CarolineM gave out to me for wanting to cut the spin short and not head over to Stage 5, and duely cut down the trail I wanted to cut the spin short on! :D
Deadly, as mentioned above, class morning on the bikes. Great group out and fair play Turbo Tony, brilliant route. Smiles for miles. Just to clarify Gareth, it’s a 29er that I’ve had since before they went out of fashion to the 27.5’s and has since come back into fashion! So I reckon I’m bang on trend didn’t slow me down anyway. To be fair my rear tyre is so bad and my brakes are so bad there was F all slowing me down today. Thanks all

Mad start to the spin, not sure Dutch Gold in the wet is the best warm up trail lol, but we gathered ourselves and trashed down everything thereafter. Few new trails for me, loved it all. Very mucky but it seemed to have a sticky quality to it, the run from alpine all the way down is top class.
Great to be back on the pivot, laugh all you want at the 26" wheels but they're great for the real steep stuff, can get the weight way back and low without risk of a tyre up your arse, and they're nimble! Absolutely love that bike.
