Our DH Track is almost roll able from top to bottom, there are just a few bits we need to sort out and we can start riding it. It will still need a good bit or work to make it into a deadly race track, but once its roll able we can ride the ****e out of it for a few weeks and see what works and what doesnât see what beds in well and what turns to goo.
So to get her roll able we are having a final digging day on the 30th. Anyone who has an interest in the old DH should come along and give a hand. Most of the really ****e work has already been done. Rivers have been diverted, frogs re-homed, the deadly gully thatâs full of ****e is now just the deadly gully that needs a bit of raking. So a good gang for a few hours should get her going.
Rakes and mattocks would be the weapons of choice. If anyone has some spare timber or wire let me know.
We will be out there for 10:00. Phones donât work in the place so unless you know where you are going, be on time, or let us know well in advance that you are running late.
Directions to Glen of Imal: Follow N81 through Blessington, keep going for several miles passing signs for Donard to your Left, stay on N81 until sign for Knockanarrigan. Take this Left and stay on this through the village (some more miles) until you see the pub on the Right. May be called the Imaal Inn or some such but everyone calls it Fenton's. Go on past that for a few numdred yards until you get to cross roads (this is as far a your phone will work, so if you have to make a call now is the time to do it). The tramac road that you are on goes left but there are two dirt roads, one straight ahead and one to the right, take either, they both go to the same place. After about half or mile of the worst potholes ever you will get to the car park.
There might be a few people going out this week. If so we will let you know.
