Craic Spin, 7:20pm, 29th June, Laragh

Another classic Big Mountain this week.

We may be doing uplifts. So turn up well organised. Everything you need either on you, or in your backpack. Pedalling/driving at 7:20 prompt.

This route is a riot. Anyone who was out last week will be well able for it.

We're going to rename the Craic Spin soon.

"All Mountain" is good, so is "Tuesday Trail Riding".

Great. I really enjoyed last week so will be there. Is it the same meeting place as last week?
Will I be ok on my cheap hardtail?

Regarding the uplifts. The trick to arriving at the top with everything you need is sorting out your gear tonight.

just wondering if its a xc spin , and woud it be ok for two of us to tag along

All mountain does involve a bit of XC but it also involves a bit of DH. A full sus while not necessary is an advantage.
Craic spins traditionally involve less then savage paced climbs but fast n tecniqual decents.
If you want the lycra paced climbs then it's Richies spins you want. That said the pace uphill is by no means slow on the craic spin just not savage. The decents however are and unless you be pretty handy on the hardtail well some of them may be a bit scary.

where you meeting/heading?

Immediately as you come in to Laragh from Roundwood there is a small green in front of a cafe called Glendalough Fayre. That's where we're meeting.

As Bren says you'll find this spin pretty punishing on a short travel hard tail.

Oh yes, no club jerseys please.

Thanks for a great spin Cathal. Strangely, I don’t feel as tired as I normally do after Camaderry.

We interrupted a massive deer meeting at the summit (sorry, bad pun). They must have been discussing the debate about stag hunting in the dail.

And despite Rudolf’s amusement; everyone survived the Rock of Death.
