This week will not be the usual spin, hopefully we're going to session the jump track in Enniskerry. It will be a similar format to the Downhill session we did in Cloon a while ago.
But it will be weather dependent:
Plan A; the jump track in Enniskerry to build up some jumping skills.
If it rains or if the track is too wet then Plan B will be a 'normal' spin from Curtlestown.
Yeah for dirt jumping no suspension works best but don't worry about that malarky come on the bike you ride "All mountain" that's the one you'll be jumping on the real world anyway. Suspension is more forgiving of mistakes so don't be locking anything out just slow the rebound a bit.
If you have flats (flat peddles) bring them. Not that you can't jump in spd's but you will learn better tecnique and bail easier off flats.
This is all about building a bit of confidence in the air and bouncing the bike around a bit. If it dries up and plan A is a go remember to ride within your abilities up there and build your confidence from the ground up literally.
All the jumps we'll be doing can be rolled and don't be embaressed to do so, everyone starts at the begining and you won't build much confidence binning it from the off.
If your a regular spinner on the tuesday night "All mountain spin" you'll be able for this but it's only suitable for experienced riders.
I've only started a bit of dirt jumping myself this summer but it has already done wonders for my DH and all mountain skills just need to do some XC now to do something about my fitness.
I little bit of everything makes you deadly ;-)
colm has asked me to post . we'll all meet at the shop at the estate up the hill towards cloon and curtlestown. i think it's kilgarvan park or something like that. You can't miss it. Drive straight up hill out of enniskerry and it's on your left. i'll have checked the jumps on the way. It's looking good as there is some good drying out there at the momentthat's central to either option and we can relocate from there. Anybody stuck buy
