All Mountain Spin Tuesday 31st August

Meeting up at the usual spot at Djouce and heading up Maulin. We’ll be leaving the cars at 7:00 to make the most of the light.

Don’t forget to charge your lights.

We couldn’t let the XCOD lads have that loop all to themselves, even if we did have to finish in the dark. But most of us were prepared.

There was Joe, Bren and the Dave’s. New Dave kept up with us even after his close encounter with nature on Bench Cut. Up to the start of the Alpine Track on Maulin to admire the view and Bren tried to buy some jelly babies. We had to abandon New Dave to the Bears at the top of Disco Stu because he had no lights (he was warned!) Disco Stu was riding really well, although I struggled a bit in the dark. And finished off a great spin with a very dusty GC.

the lights dust combo on GC made for a couple of interesting corners alright. Good spin! First time up maulin on a bike . It's a grand climb up except for maybe the switch back bit which i know probably gives some people the horn :-) the reason i never have jelly's colm is i've no resistance to the power of sugar. I've usually eaten them in the van on the way there :-)

oh yeah those switchbacks are the schizzle..you don't get that Challenge anywhere else ..you do be licking the stem its that steep !!

Great spin - thank you to Colm and the lads. I had a bit of a chat with a tree early on alright, but only a bit of road rash to show so all good. The trails were dry and sweet! I was pretty gutted to "waste" what felt like 1000ft of climbing and head down the fire road in the dusk as the lads went whooping down the last couple of trails. Lights are on the shopping list.....
