I have a spare one darragh I'll bring it along. Bring them kranks with you will ya.
It’s a nice loop around CURTLEStown (not Kindlestown – Darragh!) It has a bit of everything; nice rocky technical sections, nice bit of downhill, nice flowy sections and loads of nice skids on the grassy hill. And if it was bright the scenery is nice too.
And there were nice people; Al, Bren, Bruce, Silvia, and Derek.
Thanks to Al we found a nice new route up from the river that cuts out the climb to the hostel.

they were rock shock revelations. Good spin. the run down to cloon is getting gnarly now with the low trees and ruts. god help us all when silvia gets her new light bike. I strongly suspect the pace on the climbs is going to rise significantly :-)
Was a good spin alright that short cut was great even though i was just winging it. Good pace on both the ups and downs

Whereabouts is this shortcut? I brought a relative beginner down to curtelstown a week back and that last climb up to the hostel almost killed him so if there's a way to cut it out it would be handy to know.

Im guessing its between where the number 12 and 10 is. I had never been around that way and it was really cool. Great spin - looking forward to next week already. Fingers crossed it will be on the new bike.

your route has me fascinated, kids..after you came down through Knockcree forest and hit the road..
you turned right past the barrier..
but did you go left over the Wicklow Way Stile or did you keep going down the fireroad and turn left along the river ?
then when you got to the bridge did you track back across below the hill and come back up over the stile and back up on to the fireroad..
and tell me, did you used to follow the savage steep track back up to the stile across from the hostel ?
you turned right past the barrier..
but did you go left over the Wicklow Way Stile or did you keep going down the fireroad and turn left along the river ?
then when you got to the bridge did you track back across below the hill and come back up over the stile and back up on to the fireroad..
and tell me, did you used to follow the savage steep track back up to the stile across from the hostel ?
We treked up towards the savage climb but when it started to go across back towards the stile. There was a bunch of trees with a spot were some fires had been lit and there was a track from there back towards the hostel. Which i was thinking would take the steepness out of the climb but it then turned left and up towards the trees that seperate the grass from the the fireroad past the barrier. There was a bit of a path beaten through the trees that kinda popped you out onto the fireroad just below the barrier.
