Well.... that was some fun tonight but different game altogether, I haven't been so freaked out on a bike since Rostrevor! Got used to it though after a while. It's unbelievable what speed you can go uphill at, it's like having a turbo boost in your legs.
I can see know where the benefit of road spins really is, I haven't had a good workout like this for the legs in a good while.
60km spin on Thursday night, savage!
Dont know what turbo your on about jeasus I was Fkd at the top of Killiney, good pace out to bray and back though, and I have to say I enjoyed it. I defo think this will make an improvement in my climbing, here's hoping!!!
Well that was surprisingly enjoyable! Skippy's post said something about "easy" pace but of course that was a lie ..... for me it was flat out the whole way! Found riding so close to other bikes hard to get used to. Nice route ... lots of red lights completely ignored! Thanks Skippy.
yeah..it will.
And your bike handling will improve no end. We're losing out at races to riders who are not as good on the bike but caning us pace wise. So you have to do what your rivals are doing.
Remember train your weaknesses not your strengths

One of the reasons I'm keen to promote these spins is to allow members whose fitness is not as good as the senior riders, to get a good spin in and get the fitness required for the savage spins.
I stayed with Carol and we only did one lap of Killiney, hopefully we can get a few slower people or ladies out that will keep her comapny on the future spins.
great to see the Fecker again..I haven't seen the fat git in ages !
you have a cold..I've going to kidnap you for a weekend and harden you up..i f*ckin so am !!
did you ever see Rocky 2 and the training he had to do , well I'm going to drag you over 3 rock by your micky !!
Yeup great spin...Big crew of closet roadies, Carol, Richie, Jack, Stu, Smidders, RichardL, Max, Neil & myself...Pace was abit all over the shop but we will get that sorted after a week or two...Next week stick it out untill the end if you can...all the hardwork was done there was only about 40mins left with a few small climbs left which stu and myself done...
I'll prob cycle from home next week, so the loop I did will be enough for me untill I get a bit fitter. Jeasus I need more gears on that bloody bike, I nearly died trying to get up that feckin hill in Killiney, The speed of the 2 stone whippet Stu up the hill talk about being left for dead... holy Jeebus.
it shouldn't be a race lads, you definitely shouldn't feel like your banjoed after these spins. Steady is the key and stay together.
I'll be staying with Carol so if there are people looking to get fit they can hang with us and each week we'll get closer and closer to the main bunch.
You have enough gears Darragh, like I say you should not be killing yourself. Its only the beginning of the road miles season.
Practice your climbing techniques rather than pulling out of the bars on the climbs and mashing the pedals.
given time we'll work our way up to up and overs , etc and then you'll see some real pace.
