Well that was fierce, we kept it fairly steady the whole time. Even the climb up to Johnny Foxes we were chatting way with me and The Greg leading the way, up past Freds field with a small but fast gang.
Down MX and across and up the rocky trail outside rock and roller and back up to 3 Rock then we headed down the New Trail and into Ticknock, up past Toms and on to Kilmashogue.
Up the WW and down the Wocca Woccas where we picked up Jackson and over to Glencullen, where John Doris headed home before he got castrated ! up to the Mini Bog of death, at this stage I realised we'd lost Micky and Rusty Dave, they were flying along so I can only assume they were hit with mechanicals.
Up the mini bog and down the rubbish trail, Bag of Chips and the dream mile , where The Greg had a spectacular crash right in front of me on the flat !!!
After that we headed back via Enniskerry and the Scalp.
Me, Damo, Alfie, Morty, Andrew,Max, Oz, and The Greg ( with Jackson Heading home via Enniskerry) finished in the Elite group.
Greg is going to be some serious contender this year ,racing XC.
I think I saw Mick O'Reilly behind us at Ticknock and Phil appeared briefly but I could have been imagining them.
Great pace and a great loop.
I'm looking forward to next Sunday already.

Well I just about hung on to the fast group till the end of the WW just before the Wocca Wocca's.My chain broke,and it did'bnt bother me in the least,as it meant I got a rest!!Fixed it in about 3 mins and caught up with Dave Rusty Ring,but he pulled ahead across the Bog of Death.So I did the rest of the loop,Bag Chips and the Dream Mile,where Brendan caught up with me.Had to stop briely just before the road as my front quick release came undo.So off again onto the road,into Enniskerry and out the far side back to Palmers.It was bloody hard,and I was very very happy to get back to my car.Tough spin and there was no where to hide!!!
That was the biz, glad I brought the hardtail. I think Greg should start xc training with his DH bike - just so he is used to it when the season starts again !! It was nice to see some of the fast guys suffering for once too. And yeah, I know that won't last too long.
another deadly spin...struggled badly at the start and was contemplating having to go with the expert group but once we got off road i started to warm into it

if we do that every sunday we'll all have to move up to elites next year!
My legs and back got a nice reminder of what the pain was, something they forgot over the winter! Good route for training, lots of steady climbing and some nice techy descents.
Still amazed at the speed of Greg, he will definitely put some hardcore XC riders (myself included) to shame when the NPS starts..
That was a brilliant route, group, spin every bit of it was class, the pace was fierce and I struggled on the technical bits, but really enjoyed it. If that's what will be doing every Sunday we'll all be mega savages. Thanks Richie and looking forward to next Sunday.

Had you still in my sights on the road at glencullen but lost you on the way up to prince willies with Mickey but he was struggling ..after mini bog of death and back onto wicklow way, thought you were doing the old tue night route so went on to raven rock where i caught sight of a group ahead. On too bag of chips where i met with Keller, Mick O, Terry and landie, down the green mile and home on the road 55+ km at a good pace. Have to say i enjoyed that even if it was hard work at times..Roll on 2011
did those losers avoid the minibog then ? how else would they meet you ?

Not for me to say, but i was surprised to see them ahead of me all right :o... Raven rock was not too bad still half frozen and the sketchy decent was fairly rutted out
