So the stanchions are rocking back and forth about 4mm in the legs, not good under braking, is there any internal adjustment or how does one get them fixed? The are Suntour SR yokes.

Sounds like the bushings may be worn.
Also check the bolts at the bottom of the lowers are tight.

Suntour forks are muck. they are designed to work in the showroom or maybe on the street. Your daughter is actually using the bike offroad, so the same problems that we have, she will have.
The forks are glofified springs in a tube, with little or no weather protection. they run on crappy bushes that last a very short time.
I'm sure if you stripped them down, you would be able to make said bushes yourself. probably out of cheese....
My advice, replace the focus with a disposable car (see mine, Richies, Gerrys, Killians etc), and spend the money on real bikes for both of ya...

I'm not looking for opinions on the calibre of fork, they are at the bottom of the food chain but this is a kids bike we are talking about. None of your Pashmina coated stuff here. Right Stew, take them apart I will. I have some grated Mozzeralla in the fridge so will fabricate something out of that.
