Bontrager Mudx review

It's been a while since I've reviewed a tyre, and know you've all missed them so here is the latest. The old Bonty may have been around for a while and after hearing good things from my insiders at the Rubber Club I though I would give them a lash this winter. The Ignitors are not up to our mud and have off camber issues, the High Roller is heavy, prone to clogging and just too much tyre for winter, Rubber Queens climb well (read between the lines), so on she went. Now there is nice honesty to the tread pattern, none of your Maxxis nonsense with knobs in every direction and silly patterns, the Crossmark is the only tyre I know that will have you on your arse leaving the bike shop. Just rectangles of rubber like a kid would draw. That's it. But they rock, they will not clog and in 2.0 just cut through the mud to the good stuff. Off camber grip is good and in Ust they have not ripped or punctured despite my best efforts, they are cheap too. They remind me a lot of legendary Hutchinson Bulldog, just a bombproof winter tyre.

Next review is going to Race Kings, my club league rubber, but you'll just have to wait for that one.

you're talking through your pie hole ! Maxxis has never made a bad tyre, but sure as Jesus has a beard, God made some really crap mountainbikers who can't do anything other than talk out through their anal interface !

Bulldogs are called Toros now?

tyres are fooking tyres ..get over yourselves !! I have in my shed a Continental 1.5" tyre..I cannot remember the name of it ..
In fairness tyres have always been the center of the MTB Universe.
In the beginning there were Tioga Farmer Johns..a basic chevron pattern..
their rivals were Panaracer Timbuk 11s.
I cycled all the way from dun laoghaire to joe Dalys in Dundrum on the road to buy one on my MBK aventure.
Oh yeah..I think I had to stop twice for a smoke !!!
Then one day Rory walsh spotted the new Panaracer Smoke in the window of the bike shop in Rathfarnham and we all had a look..then we all got them, around the same time as we all got SPDs !
They were awesome times..
I swear I didn't think SPDs would catch on..the forst time I tried them, me, Gerry, Bob Seymour and Joe crashed into a gorse bush on the original leadmines club course.
The same CLub course that we had Pat McQuaid racing on ..oh and the same place ! got Pat mcQuaid the President of the UCI to do the stick dance.

so the next time you think you are some sort of MTB God and have seen it all and done it all..you haven't I was there long before you !!!

no hold on..I remember the first tyre I ever bought that wasnt on the bike when I bought it..it was some sort of Michelin job but it had me convinced I could ride up the front of Djouce with it..but it didn't. It was years before I discovered Robins secret , which was 15 psi in the rear tyre ! whatever it was !

Hutchinson rotated the knobs on the Bulldog 45 degrees and called it a Toro, that sort of cynical mumbo jumbo don't fly with me.
