Bike Repairs

Hi guys, I need some expert tips.

I would like to start learning how to work on my bike and repair some of the savage treatment it has received on these spins.

I obviously need new tires so any recommendations on brands?

I have to fix my brakes and cables, but I think I can go on line a figure that out. Unless someone out there has some tips of the trade? Remember, I still have them U-brakes. And before you state the obvious of getting disc…my bike is too old for that.

What I really like to know is…my bike feels looser then a … (I had a few things, but since this is a public forum, insert what ever you like here)…How do I tighten up the ride? Is it a matter of truing the rim’s spokes?

And while I have you...any opinions on the 2009 Specialized Epic or Specialized Epic bikes in general? Preference on another brand?

the best thing to do is ask Gerry ( Mactheknife) can he do it for you or bring it to The Bike Rack in Cabinteely and get a full service. Unfortunately that poor bike has been raped and mutilated by your spins with us.
The money you would spend on it would be better spent on a replacement.
All those Specialized are excellent bikes.

I'll do a full service on the bike for you if you like...

I'll replace all your cables, both inner and outer..

Tune your gears..

Fix your brakes.. replace blocks etc..

Tension / true your wheels if necessary..

There could be any number of loose things on your bike such as bottom bracket, headset, cones / bearings, pedals and the likes.. I'll sort all this out.. if its in a sortable condition that is..

Basically get the bike back to a fully functioning condition.. for a small fee of course..

If you like I'd be more than happy for you to come over to my workshop and I'll show you a few hint n tips on bike maintenance.. you'll be surprised how easy it all is once you know how...
