Saint Cranks Pedal Spacers

I just received my new Saint cranks. They are the 09 ones. There were no pedal spacers in the box.

First question, do you HAVE to use pedal spacers with these cranks?

Second question, if you do can you just use any type of washer that will fit?

If they are the M810 series you don't need a pedal washer..

M800 series requires a pedal washer..

OK so next problem. I tried fitting the cranks last night, and had all sorts of problems with my chain guide. The bike has a 73mm BB with no ISCG mounts, so Im using an E-thirteen SRS chain guide with an E Thirteen ISCG Mounting Plate - ISCG 05 BB mounted chain guide. When I pushed the drive side through and tightened up the non drive side, the cranks wouldnt turn coz they were flush up against the chain guide. I tried putting spacers between the BB cups and the chain guide to separate them, but when I did, I couldnt push the drive side through far enough so that the stopper plate was flush.

This chain guide did work with Truvativ cranks, but wont work with saints.

Any help would be hugely appreciated
