DJ Bike Question??

I know this thread is quite similar to another one posted in the last day or so but i have my own angle.
I am thinking about expanding my bike collection and have been eyeing up dj bikes on bikeporn.com so i can head to St Annes or Enniskerry. But I was wondering if there is any advantage to getting a freeridey (i made a new word) hardtail like Cotic Bfe which are all the rage in MAD and can take a 100 to 160mm fork so it would be more versatile.
Or is it a case of dirtjump bikes for dirt jumps

I don't know much on the subject but I do know you don't want to be running a long fork for dirt jumping. Soaks up too much on the take off ramp.

that sort of bike would be crap for dirt jumping. If you want to be able to ride the trails with ease you need the right bike for the job. Most full on dirt jump bikes only use about 80mm of travell up front. The likes of a bfe is too much like an xc bike and if you want it in a size that will suit for any sort of xc riding it will be too big for jumping.

Thanks Al, was wondering was it possible to combine both. Giant stp's seem to be very popular, any thoughts on them?

I have an stp and its bleeding savage. I got the single speed version but the only difference between the stp's are the gears really. If you want a go on mine to get an idea of the sizes and angles then your more than welcome

Go for Black Market Bikes if you want the best,or NS bikes for good value,,

dirt jump bikes for dirt jumps!
shovels for digging!!

Mike I have a 14" Dirt jump frame in the shed, It was a Planet x something. If you are that keen you can have it free gratis. I was going to get it resprayed and use it but I'm never going to get the time. But don't take it unless you are seriously interested in Dirt jumping
