What lights do you use ?

As above is there a particular brand of light you guys tent to stick to ?
Also i take it LED is the only way to go ?

Light & Motion, Lupine or Hope are your best bet.

Thats the one Llandai, very good light for the money, as bright as my 200 buck Nuke Proof light, has the same P7 led inside and the battery lasts longer, 3 1/2 hr on full power.
Don had a loan of it the other night and seemed to be impressed.

Im going to get a second one as they now have helmet mounted ones. for just over €50 you cant go wrong.

Where is the helmet mounted one, i can't see it.

Also got 2 sets of the same lights from Dealextreme, delivery took almost 4 weeks but it parcel was marked as a "Gift" so I did not have to pay gov taxes:)

In relation to the helmet mounted version on Dealextreme, what the link? Had a look and cannot find?? Intersted in using another lamp suitable for the helmet to light up Co. Wicklow:o

I am lucky enough to own both the Hope Vision 2 (CRC €227)and the Hope Vision 4 (CRC €282), and have used the Dealextreme light too (DX €55). Here are my comments:
(1) Light for night MTB use has gotta be helmet mounted.
(2) The Hopes have a special velcro helmet yoke making it's easy to remove the light when not needed. The DX light - you need to be creative & make a helmet mount (easy).
(3) The DX light is unbeatable for the price BUT it has a fairly narrow beam meaning your eyes tend to concentrate on one relatively small area of the trail. For the price - just get two!
(4)You need to extend the power lead of the DX light to put the battery either in rucksack or in your pocket.
(5) The Hope lights don't have a significantly longer throw than the DX light; However the Hope, specially the Vision 4, gives a very broad beam which is a big help to your peripheral vision.

and they are brill,fcuk em out after a season
if you want and you are still onto a winner.
also noticed that the helmet mounted one fits handlebar too

Super advice lads ill be going with the helmet mounted ones and if there isnt enough light ill get bar lights too.

when you lads are doing night spins what bikes are you on xc ht, full sus, or am ? Just sold my hard tail today so all i have left is a DJ bike and an Enduro will that do for night spins ?

Sound as a pound. Could you grade the spins from 1 to 10 but i can imagine that they will all be turned up to 11 as this is epic :)

Look out for the Tuesday night Steady/craic spins ricer, if you want to come on a spin this tuesday then i have a spare light (helmet mount) that you can borrow.
These are the spins we like to just have a bit of fun on without killing ourselfs.
