My girlfriend have fallen few days ago and hit her face on the ground, so I m thinking in buy this one for her, she isnât doing any downhill just some XC.
Will this do the job and protect the face if she falls?
She won’t go for a proper Full Face, was pretty bad, the scratches are fine, but she broke on teeth also. Looking for something to protect the mouth, maybe just a teeth protector?
i have one. dont buy it. i took off the guard cos it seems like it would cause trouble if i fell
buy her this rubber mouth protector used by boxers, teeth safe and no fecking talking on the trail
Mario, most mtb injuries are hand ones ..I bring more people mountainbiking than anyone , the incidents of facial injuries is minimal.
Her confidence is gone now, so you're going to have to get her confidence back .
The ladies don't have the dozens of little skills that men have picked up since they were little boys lamping off kerbs and skidding around their gardens..
So mountainbiking is just too hard for them initially, but once they get the hang of it they are deadly at it.
I'll be running skills days for Women MTBers with Jenny McCauley from the Womens Commission in the near future, get her along to a couple of them and worrying about falling on her face will disappear !

Hi Mario, A couple of us ladies are heading out next Wednesday: http://www.epicmtb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10208. We will be just going around the Leadmines not doing anything particularly crazy. See if she would like to come along, it might help her confidence after the fall. I think there are about six ladies signed up already.

it can also be like this: she goes with you guys, tells her story, and then these 6 ladies decide not to ride their bikes anymore :]
Quoting my Girlfriend after she have read Byrne answer:
"so we- ladies- dont' have the skills, huh?! I could show you dozens of guys who dont have half of my skills !! And my confidence is not destroyed! Just a bit scratched :) I will be back in hills in no time! "
Think she will be fine, and i will be in trouble, hehehe
She is interested in going to the Spin, she will register in the site tonight and try to arrange something as we leave in Howth and don't have a car.
Like the ideia of the Mouth guard, will have a look at this over the weekend (and silence will be really apreciated )
well, lets see her skills then !! If it means that she will show me what she can do on a bike and impress me, then I will eat my words and apologise humbly..
Otherwise I will continue to be a male chauvinistic bollix !!
and a mouthguard is a stupid idea..you will either swallow it and choke on it or pass out because you won't be able to breathe properly with it in or pass out due to slobber induced dehydration!!
how come we have loads of people riding their bikes on savage spins and jumping off mountains without any need for these ridiculous accessories !!
