I hate the remote switch for fork lockout - there's enough cluttery cables on a bike as is - questions is - any way to modify a Magura Durin and Rockshox Reba to do away with the cable remote?

Don't know and don't care about Magura forks..
For Rock Shox.. depending on the year & model of fork.. you will need to remove the entire remote lockout compression cartridge and replace it with a manual lockout cartridge... but some of the older forks just had a spring under the top cap which can be removed.. then just buy a new top cap lever..
I have a manual lockout damper cartridge if you want to do a straight swap.. its for 32mm stantions..
