Wanted : Commuter/Hacker

I'm in the market for a cheap commuter/hack bike to get me from Bray to Belfield.

Something that works but isn't flash enough to attract the concerted efforts of thieves. I'll have a good lock of course.

I'd consider a single speed for ease of maintenance, though not a fixie.

More generally, what kind of money should I be thinking about for something like this?

You might want to give rothar.ie a look. Non-profit organisation that fixes up abandoned bikes and sells them on. I had a chat with one of the lads there and he was saying you should be able to get a decent commuter bike for about €150 with a 1 month warranty.
