Are these worth getting?

I've been looking at getting a set of xt brakes for the hardtail and just spotted this deal this evening.

I think it looks like a bargain but are there any drawbacks to the dual control?

No drawbacks, but they are an aquired taste. I absolutly hate them, but many like them.

Yes loads... but here's three blindingly obvious ones that stand out for me..

1. You can't brake and change gear at the same time.. which is a complete joke..
2. If you break your lever... you've also broken your shifter.. and vice versa.. you can't do one without the other..
3. Its Shimano..

Personally I wouldn't p!ss on dual control shifters if they were on fire.. utter muck... IMO

I had rapid fire, then dual control and now back on rapid fire. Would never go back to dual control, novel at first and liked them but as time went on got increasingly annoyed with the hassles I had with them. Hit a gnarly section of trail, and it was too easy to change gear while braking, the last thing you want. As Stew says, some people get on fine with them, I didn't.

Ah for fcuk sake, what am I supposed to do, contrasting opinions from 4 of the clubs best riders/gurus, how's a flute like me supposed to make a decision now.

Go dual contol on the right, rapid fire on the left, Tubeless front, tubed rear, flats left, SPD's right, see if you can make it out the car park at Palmers in one piece...

You have a set of decent brakes going by any chance Mac, I'm on a limited budget.

yeah I saw who likes them also and considering who he is and how much riding he does, they can't be that bad.
buy them anyway Brayne..a set of **** brakes or gears stuck to brakes is going to make feck all difference to your out of control style of riding .
