Question about Shimano Saint Cranks

I bought a single ring set of Shimano Saints (new style) a while back for my DH bike. I now want to put them on my all mountain bike and run a granny ring. There are 4 holes on the spider that look like they should fit a granny ring. Only thing is there are no threads in these holes to bolt on a granny ring. Can any of you tell me if I can thread them, or is there another way to bolt on the granny ring?

The single-ring Saint cranks don't have granny-ring tabs so you can't fit one.
