Brakes XT vs RX??

To go on an all mountain 6" bike.
Shimano XT vs Formula RX, opinions welcome.

XT

No experience of the RX but have XT on both bikes and very happy with them. Nice lever design and good power/modulation.

rx hands down twice the power of the xts and the new formula stuff is deadly. Have the ones and rxs on my dh and all mountain bikes for this year and having had saints and xts last year on the same bikes I wont be going back to shimano any time soon. Simple as this more power less weight and just as reliable. Only downside i can see is the RXs are a little pad wear happy but it seems a fair trade off for the stopping power

i'd be another one for the RX'S. Got a set about four months back. Weight nothing. I got them for my trail bike but i'm also considering a set for my dh bike the stopping power is that good. As al said i found my rear pads wear out i felt quick but may have been partly due to a warped rotor. Very easy to change the out anyway. I've never owned XT's but i've ridden a few bikes with them on. Stopping power not as good and always got a spongey feel from them in comparison.

I must be doing something really wrong..I have XTs on two bikes 1 pair are several years old..fantastic stopping power, bleed in a jiffy..wear is normal and i like the feel of them and the way they look and if you are stuck, you can use baby oil in them..I've never had Formula RXs but i've had other formula brakes..load of me bollix once they got any real usage !!
I will be doing long term reviews of products in my new magazine..then all the hype and bluster will be put to bed. So if you have a product that you would like reviewed or tested, fire it my way, it will be tested to its limits in Wicklow, the crucible for mountainbike parts !!

agree with you on the lower formula models like the oro's but the rx are in a complet different class. Should give them a go i think you'd like em especially on an all mountain machine,

as bren said the rxs are a totally different kettle of fish to the old oros. Which while stopped u pretty good were very high maintenance. Ive hammered the **** out of my the ones this season which are pretty similar to the rxs and they've been bullet proof.

What are the Formulas like to bleed Al? also are they mineral oil or DOT4?

i will look into these RXs so..
