Hayes HFX 9 Disc Brake Set - For Sale

Hey,

I've a quick question, How hard are these to set up initially?

I've an Apollo phaze from halfords with some crappy clarks mechanical breaks.
One of the rotors is also bent so I'd need to change that anyway.

Just wondering would it be worth upgrading to these for someone with little experience in this area?... Thanks!

While these brakes are not exactly 'high end' components they will be a significant upgrade over mechanical disc brakes..

It should be a case of just unbolting your old brakes and bolting these on..

Here's the tricky part though... they need to be bled.. I have included a bleed kit with them so you can do it yourself... its straight forward enough with Hayes brakes but if you've never done it before it can be a bit 'messy'...

Its a good learning curve though.. no better way to get to know your bike and how to fix it..!!

Yeah, I know they're not high end, to be honest, My current brakes barely work I had them professionally adjusted and even then they were still crap. This bike will just be used to get to and from places when I get my XC bike so I'd just like some half decent breaks!

Now, hopefully you can help me out here, this is a screen shot of the current breaks on my bike, I can see yours have the correct adapter so they will mount on my fork in the correct position, but is the mount size universal or not?

Yes.. The forks in your picture have what's called an IS mount (International Standard)... so the brakes I'm selling will bolt on straight away without any issues..

Just to leave feedback, finally got round to fitting these today, Breaks are in PWO and using a youtube video are very strong too!
