Just got a set of Crossrides and am wondering about converting them to tubeless.
What kit would anyone with Crossrides recommend or what do you use?
Is it worth doing?
Stu (Fat Fecker) did mine for me and they were perfect! Not sure which kit he used but he might hop in here and tell you? Definately worth doing, never gave a moments bother!
I just converted an older set of crossrides a few weeks back, used Joe's no flats rim strips (as they were on special on crc 1/2 price a while back) and Stan's fluid as had it all ready. They have a sizing chart on there web site to tell you what with strip you need ... 21.5 /24.5 fitted mine but check it aut as there were a few different sizes for crossrides depending on the year. Took about an hour all in to set up both wheels but takes a little patients to get rim strip sitting properly. Been out a good few times since and no problems so far..
Iv used both kits and they're much the same. The DT kits are better but more expensive because the valve is a separate entity to the strip. This means that if you need to pop in a tube (ripped side wall) you don't have to tear out the entire strip.
This works perfect so don't waste your money on stans etc................ save your money for other unnecessary ****.
Can't agree with you there! The previous Crossrides I had were "Ghettoed" and they worked grand but they were a pain in the ass when you changed tyres or if you happened to get a puncture! Had to drill out the rim for the larger valve too!
I use Joe's no flats. Ghetto works, but as Lynch says, it can be a pain in the arse.
If I can, I'll try stans yellow strips. the best system out there, but doesnt work with every rim. I think Mac had trouble getting 317's to seat.
Yep, Stan's yellow rim tape is best... it sticks to the rim and not to your tyres like the ghetto tubeless and the rubber rim strips... I did have trouble with the 317's but I think I have it figured out now..
Go with the yellow rim tape first... its by far the best solution.. if it works with your rims..
