Wheel advice please...

I need to get a set of wheels for the young fella's bike - upgraded Giant XTC 4.5 - he rides like a lunatic, always hopping off rocks, steps, curbs, skips, pensioners etc...

I had a set on my hardtail,stood up to all of Richie's "Big Mountain Rides".However getting spoke's is difficult,only place I could get them was the Cycle Superstore,€3.50 each.Im 80kg's,so not the heaviest,presume your young lad is lighter.

Here are some uber cheap wheels...€90 for the pair, centre lock though.

Max is light..so should be strong enough for Him.

If he needs some wheels asap i have a set of WTB Speed Disk on Shimano center locks disks that he can borrow as well.

DT Swiss rims are quite soft.. (IMO)
crossrides are a great set of wheels, bar the awkwardness of servicing them if you ever need to

There's a set of Mavic Crossmax SL Wheel for sale. If he's only light these might be an option.

If you can find Mavic 819's on Hope Pro2's going cheap they'd also be a good catch.

You'd be mad NOT to buy those wheels for that money.. Tyres, rotors the lot.. for €265.... I might just buy them myself..!!

As for DT Swiss rims being soft.. I never had a problem with mine (4.1d and 4.2d) so wouldn't have a problem recommending them...
