I'm just wondering if anyone else here uses continental race kings on their MTB? I do quite a lot of road cycling to keep my fit and recently I found a trail that I can do as part of my cycle. My other tyres stick to the road too much so I use my Race Kings.
Unfortunately I've got two punctures recently one on the front and one on the back and both punctures were in the side wall. The trail I cycle does have some spiky plants but nothing too bad that you can't avoid.
Just wondering am I having a bad streak of luck or has someone else using them noticed this?
I commute and race on UST Ignitors, so no punctures anywhere. Surprising fast on the road with 60psi.
The Contis are light, I certainly wouldn't trust them when Trails go Gnar.
Look what someone had to say on the interned...
"Sidewall Completely Exposed. Slip/slide over any bare rock and the sidewall is ripped and cause of a flat. Knobs are falling off. One tire has about 60 knobs gone."
Cheers lads, Did a bit of a forestry tour today with my WTB velociraptor up from and my
Maxxis High Roller XC Tyre on the back gave me way more grip and no punctures, yet anyway, Think I'll use my Conti's specifically for road cycling/college commuting.
Colm donated a set of those Race kings to me and i use them out on the roads etc. The side walls are paper thin so i run them at about 40 psi rear and 30ish on the front. I've bait them around the park a bit too and haven't had any punctures at all.
That said i don't think I've ever used a ****ier tyre. There's more grip from the tyres on my dirt jumper.
Fire roads, real roads and hard pack like Balinstoe are all they are good for in my opinion
