Bent dropout - fixable?

For the last 2 days I've been trying bring Slayer back to life, I had everything ready to go today and just had to put the drivetrain on...
Shifting has been terrible on it for a while but I thought that was a problem with an old mech, hanger.
Unfortunately it seems to be the dropout that's the problem (just put new hanger and new mech on it). Has anyone had a similar problem / tried to straighten it? Can't really afford a new frame or even replacing chain stays (it's 2006 model so probably hard to find anyway).
Any ideas welcome

Here, some geeky diagrams so you can see what I mean:

Use a large adjustable spanner, close the jaws in on the dropout, bend it back, go very very slowly, 5 - 10 little movements

When I say large I mean at least 300mm

I have a dropout straightening device..I will loan it to you tomorrow !

I might have a spare hanger for it max, if I have I will bring it tomorrow

Damo - welcome back! hanger is ok, it's the actual dropout that's bent (a spare hanger might come in handy anyway)

That's now fixed thanks to counter-bending skills of Mr Wallace from Expert Cycles.
