This is a call out to all Epic members who are interested in riding there bikes and learning new skills & to all DHârs out there. As you know a Jam is set for Anneâs next month and myself GavD, Ronan and Sean have been putting in a lot of hours / weekends and days off into preparing and getting the trails ready, Not to mention the countless hours Stevo & Andy have put in over the last year or so building their line. Iâve been out there every weekend for the last 6 weeks to help build trails that everyone can ride and enjoy, (remember I donât ride BMX so Iâm keeping everything I build ridable on a 26â)
The last 6 weeks has seen a dramatic change in the attitude towards the trails park in St Anneâs including that of Park Management I wonât going into it to much as Sean is dealing with that end of it. Some of you have come out and seen for yourself the bicycle trails (Not just BMX) which are appearing, not out of thin air I might add.
I know there are other digs going on around the club with new DH track being build by Cummins and Byrner which sounds brilliant and canât wait to see them. But to remind you that Anneâs looks like it hear to stay and anyone around long enough to remember the jumps years back will know how amazing it is to get them back.
This weekend cause Iâm broke Iâll be out their again, just to update you on progress last week the cliff is pretty much ready to ride, it looks daunting but you donât get much height from it all you need is speed. if your curious just come out and have a look like Tim and Basil did last week, Iâm building another line on the Pump track so thereâs now a âsuicide lineâ which extends the pump track a bit. you might need to duck for this one (hence the name)
This will be finished and ridable by Sunday morning.
The Kiddie line will be finished hopefully by the weekend thatâs where this rant comes to an end, anyone who has been deadly by helping out so far are needed again this weekend Saturday or Sunday anytime which suits you; or anyone who wants to come out and have a look are more than welcome to just pop by for a few minutes
Once everything is built its there for everyone to ride, the hours the digging teams are putting in now are for your benefit, as the trails are now here to stay, there are some absolute beginner jumps being made too so thereâs no excuses, if you feel you want to start something so you can ride brilliant thatâs how these begun. Come out and do your thing thereâs people out there all the time to help and advise.
So anyone interested but not sure how to get out there PM me and see you on Saturday from 11am.
yeah, what mark said except for one thing.
the cliff is daunting and you DO get feckin loads of height from it...Mwaaa haaa haaaaa.
good stuff is happening out there so get involved.
every little bit of help goes a long way so dont be shy.
if you plan on riding whats there sometime it is only fair to pay your dues and help fill a few wheelbarrows.

Richie
Mark, i might make it up to that jam for the hoolie. How are the jumps holding up in the rain? Does the weather have to be dry for a day or 2 to ride them or whats the story?
Fire up a couple of pics if you get time. It help generate some interest too.
I'll get Pics up this weekend sure no probs.. St Anne's trails are in a unique location in that there's a heavy canopy over head which protects the ground hence there's no grass, and with the shear number of tree's it keeps the ground dry and well drained. i've ridden the trails while its raining outside the tree line. check out the movie Lawlor made of Ben Reid a few weeks ago that'll give you a fair idea.
I know I've said it before but fair play to Stevo, Mark and everybody else involved..if people didn't give up their riding time their would be nowhere to ride, there are plenty of people who never lift a shovel, they just keep riding others trails till they're wrecked so if you have a bit of time , go out there and give those boys a hand.
And if the diggers need any more support from the Club, just let me know,
Richie
Lads, I have to say well done on getting the trail back up and running. I'm from Raheny originally , and spent my youth down there, but in those days we called the area "The Chuckies".
I was joking the other day on another post about finding my old Griffter, for old times sake. One of my proudest biking moments was making the first set of doubles on the Griffter. Man, I was grinning for a week afterwards!! That said, one of the worst, was a couple of months earlier when I tried to make the double, landed short nose first, over the bars, and bent the forks so much, they went through the bottom two tubes, and touched the large top tube!!! After that, I got a set of aero pro forks and bars to lighten up the front end, and I was a bmx GOD again!!
Thanks for bringing back some great memories. I'll do my damndest to get down this weekend to lend a hand.
Well I'll be there from 9:00, Eleven is no time to be going diggin I'll have a good half days work done by then. Feckin lazy layabouts. Stevo, fire away with the jump robbing, I wasn't that attached to my beautiful little jump that much anyway. Can I carry on with the jump drop thing I was working on last time out, or would that interfere with the mega frickin awesome master plan.
nobody knows, but the name goes back before the advent of jumps or BMXes, to bygone days and all that, when horses grew in field and before wall paper paste,
