mountain rescue in 3rock

i see a mountain biker was rescued from the ticknock trail tonight. i think a guy who posts as cruddy was on scene. anyone know anything about it

some lady took a tumble and suffered severe cuts and bruises !! apparently..

yea i saw that came up after i posted, i thought i recognised one of the bikes in the photos

deadly photos !! lots of people in helmets, lots of people walking and lots of vehicles up on 3 Rock and both sets of Mountain Rescuers..

The lady came off at speed on a straight section of the trail. Looked like she hit a bump, lost control and came off. She had a decent bike, a helmet and experienced friends with her so it was mostly bad luck and a bit of going too fast too soon. Hopefully all of her injuries will turn out to be bad bruises only and she'll be back on her feet soon. If she didn't have a helmet, I'd guess she'd be a lot worse.

If any of you are involved in an incident around Three Rock and an ambulance can't park right beside the casualty, then its worth considering asking for Mountain Rescue to attend. Last night the lady was treated by the HSE advanced paramedics (one of whom is a DWMR team member) assisted by MR medical people. She was then handed over to MR for transport to the ambulance. It wasn't far but MR is better prepared to do this task safely and quickly.

So nothing was broken, just bruising, yet mountain rescue was called agian!!! This is a disaster I can see this coming to an end soon. No MTBing anywhere soon its going to take one claim to Fook it all up, wait and see.

It the business, no brakes though! It's free to have a go in it too, all you have to do is faceplant somewhere awkward:)

2nd time this week they've been up apparently, every tuesday we have been up there, someone has either been walking down with a broken body or else carried out on a stretcher.
Kind of nuts.

clearly the most dangerous trail of all time, statistically, ha and to think bill and the boys had a problem with a few jumps up there and a few ghetto trails...

who signed on off on putting nose wheelie jumps the entire length of the trail with big rocks at the sides to take you out if you do run wide.

i'm sure this will end soon..

someone in work had asked me if I hard about the "bike crash up the hills" today - wow - it actually made radio news - what's that all about?
One of the MAD lads saw the girl and her face was pretty bad
I think it's what Robin says re; the jumps (slabs or collections of slabs of granite)- the placement, take-off angle and run-out are far from ideal, on a few of them you jump one but land on another or on a series of slabs/boulders if you come up short etc..

Why point the finger of blame at the trails and how they were built..?

Is this not just a simple case of an inexperienced rider going too fast and getting themselves all out of shape when things get sketchy..?

This accident could have happened (and does happen all the time) on any trail, in any forest, anywhere..!

If the place is getting 1000 riders a week then 1 or 2 callouts a week is to be expected, not bad stats actually. The gnar factor up there will hopefully result in a whole generation of good riders coming through.

as far as i can see the coillte trail in ticknock is the best thing thats happened in years...................in ballinastoe!!

And another thing.... If you can't jump.... don't feicin' jump...!!

Especially on a high speed trail like the one in question...
