Well that was deadly, I'm glad its over..fantastic trail, perfect organisation, the two car parks seperated by miles meant only some of us had the craic ! but by jeebus some fantastic trailbuilding in that place..I like it better than Djouce..I suppose having ridden Djouce to death over 20 years, I'm sick of it.
But so much deadly trailbuilding, even with the torrential showers the course held up great, I thought it would turn to schlomp but it didn't.
I had a great time, I started after the S3 and just rode 3 laps for fun. I did wait for a certain EPIC member who will remain nameless but he fecked off without telling me.
Caroline got 1st, Orla got first, Micky got Second , Marlena got a prize and we think Terry won the NPS Senor 3 overall..
Pity more people didn;t hang around for the prizegiving..
But well done to XMTB and thanks for ending the Season nicely..

Fantastic course and venue but yes, pity about 2 car parks. By the time I got to the car, changed etc. the prize giving was over...
It was the last NPS so I played va banque and decided to give it all on the 1st lap and see if I could stick the pace for longer... well, I didn't but still enjoyed the race.
Those fireroad climbs killed me, I should've continuned my road training until the end of the season maybe? Something to think about for next year, it's great to be still learning and know there is room for improvement, I'm not done yet!

Thanks to XMTB for running the event,very professional,easy sign on,chip timing,plenty of marshals,nice tea ladys and proper trophies,100% top class.Am really happy and surprised at my 2nd place today.I just rode to keep my 3rd place in the championship,knew who I had to beat and did'nt care where I finished as long as I did enough to keep ahead of those who could overtake me in the points table.So I rode the race at my pace and am delighted to get on the podium.Thanks to everyone who cheered me on and to Graham for doing bottles.I found the course very tough,alot of climbing and no fast decents to reward the effort.Basically it was a singletrack slog for 70% of the lap,no flow at all.Congrats to all the Epic riders who raced today,and good to see the club got a good few podiums/ top 5 in the NPS tables.The 2 car parks messed up the overall craic,while I had great craic with Richie etc in our carpark,I missed Alfie,only seen him once all day!!Will hit the local later for a pint!!
we all missed Alfie..but him and Caroline and Terry O were up in the Bleeding VIP car park !! next time we all go to the first Car park !! I have to say I thought the course rewarded everything and the climbs were no way as bad as they used to be..they took a mean spirited doubletrack climb out of it and it used to be a lot rougher !! I thought we had great fast descent rewards..I could have sworn there was a pig of a climb in the middle of the bit after the place Robbie Lamont was Marshalling, the section after the fireroad descent !! but they must have moved it !! Some craic slagging Damo D and Michael Cowan and the lad from Cork..he was like a giant bumblebee !! I had an an on/off bromance with a lad from Cuchulainn who's name escapes me..
Great result for Richie Felle as well..he was going brilliant..very impressive.
I must have been stoned or something..however I wasn't really racing hard..so i got to enjoy the thing the way it should be..

The descents were spectacular, I managed to do a nice turn-to-nose wheelie on the last steep left-hander, nearly lost it but you have to please the crowds!
And I did ride the kids loop when I was warming up, really good and gnarly enough for the young ones!
I love that place but previous years courses were slightly better in my lonely opinion. Perhaps a little too much beautiful single track. Was stuck behind some goon for way too long on lap one but then, I can't really complain too much until I start working on my lightening fantastic start line sprint
