Off-Road Commission AGM

Below is the notice for the Off Road AGM. I understand there is to be a Cyclocross event in north Dublin earlier in the day and a BMX / Dirt Jump session near by on the Sunday morning. So with luck there should be a good turnout.

Ok ,guys and girls if you have an opinion and/or want to get involved then this is the event to get to.
In fact all club members should attend. it won't take long and the future of the Sport, Cross Country,Downhill, whatever you like to be known as it all needs to be developed and made even better than it already is,

Hello anybody got any nominations for this or maybe some motions, issues to be discussed,
gripes aired..
I won't be going forward for a position now as i believe i would only attract negative reactions from certain parties , who would get a kick out of highlighting all my little faults and remarks.
Sad but true i'm afraid
I'll keep doing what I do anyways and maybe when these parties diappear up their own passages I'll be able to go on the Commission and get a Commission hat.
Won't that be nice.
In the meantime the sport needs positive, committed people who want to develop it .

Considering i was at the first one ever and here i am at what I consider to be the most important one.

Pity there wasn't more and as this is my Clubs website and I don't give a good goddamn, they should be ashamed for not bothering their arses.
Why not give up a couple of hours to voice your opinion, good or bad.
Typical, whinge and bitch all you want now.
This is the Offroad Commission, they are in charge of offroad Cycling in Ireland officially.
I know there are more committed passionate MTBers out there than I saw today and i know there are loads who actually give a ****.
Don't stay on your club forums giving out ..make your opinions and ideas known.

Off Road Comm

Hello Ritchie,
Thanks for nominating me for commision. I apologise to all for not being at the meeting but alas I had to work with it being the last sat before christmas and all that. It looks like good gang of people so hopefully we can do some good work. Happy christmas to all the epic gang and see you all in the new year.

Will minutes of the meeting be available online to those who weren't there? What were the main issues raised?

they sure will - I typed them up last night and they are currently with the rest of the new committee for review - we should have the full detailed minutes out early this week, meantime see summary below:

The 2008 OffRoad AGM took place in the Marine Hotel, Sutton, Co.Dublin on Sat 20th Dec.
In attendance were members from MADMTB, EPICMTB, Flow Racing, IMBRC, UCD clubs

Nominations had previously been received by Geoff Liffey from Cycling Ireland who chaired the meeting until the new committee were elected
All nominations were seconded and a new committee was elected - the 2009 OffRoad Committee will be as follows:

Chairman: Sean Herlihy (EPICMTB)
Secretary & XC coordinator: Fergal Kilkenny (MADMTB)
Treasurer: Morgan O'Connell (MADMTB)
Committee member: Rory O'Keefe (021 Racing)
Committee member & DH coordinator: Micheal Cowan (Team CRC)
Committee member: Alan Clogher (TC Cycles)
Committee member & BMX coordinator: Rory Beirne (tba)

Further roles and responsibilities will be decided/agreed between the commission members.


AGM discussion items included promotion of the faster XC Sports riders to senior categories in order to maintain a more equal beginner-level capability
in the Sports category.

It was agreed that OffRoad committee members from Connaught and Ulster would be valuable, so there exists the means to elect new committee members from those provinces.

Better promotion/advertisement of OffRoad events and improved management and scheduling of the XC NPS
were accepted as an important area of attention and will be developed in 2009.

It was agreed that High Performance would not be a responsibility or deliverable of the 2009 OffRoad Commission.

There was the discussion for NPS winners to be recognised at an official awards ceremony and for development of non-competetive events to get leisure-MTB cyclists more into the sport



The OffRoad Committee is looking forward to developing and improving the various disciplines of OffRoad biking in 2009
so that it’s members can continue to enjoy and progress in the sport in the future.
