Just a reminder that voting in the Membership Awards closes at Noon on Monday the 7th November, and tickets for the Awards dinner can be purchased up until 3pm on Wednesday the 9th November. Please note that we cannot accept any late registrations.

what a load of bollocks......
don't see any MTB clubs or BMX club there... no Shay MacNally or Fergals or Richies etc..Still CI is a roadie centric organisation
Time for a new one.....

Sean is nominated..its our own fault , Mountainbikers never nominate or get nominated. Theres no doubt in my mind that the concieving and building of The Rathoath BMX track this year is the greatest contribution to Irish Cycling in the past 10 years let alone this year.
The fact that a tiny group of volunteers worked together ,fuelled by their passion and made a dream a reality seems to have completely escaped the notice of many people.
We went all out with The Blast this year, took a mighty gamble, what did we get a threatening letter from the NPWS.
I gave up 3 months of Friday evenings to teach kids Mountainbiking. Not even a mention.
This bothers me , not because I want a medal.
It bothers me because it doesn't even merit a mention.
Luke said something to me last week when I mentioned this to him,
he said " what do you want, you're lucky you're Richie Byrne, this stuff is expected from you !"
the same could be said about Shay, so you put your life on hold and created a masterpiece, nobody made you !
I'm starting to consider that volunteering and giving up your time for others is a complete waste of time.
I'm up for a board position but I have lost interest, maybe its the male menopause but I've a major pain in my bollix right now,

You know it's not a waste of time Richie, the young ones will remember what you did for them for the rest of their lives, so will the whole MTB community.
I was astonished about the lack of recognition for Ratoath though, this project will mean so much for the development of Irish Cycling and was also very PC (unlike the Blast or the other stuff we do) from the start, I thought the suits would've liked that...

I'm not the least bit surprised you have a pain in you B.... You do deserve recognition, especially for the kids Friday's. BUT it would be a major missed opportunity for mountain biking and you if you didnt take a position on the board.

And, inspiring kids is not a waste of time. Kids at that age remember things like that for the rest of their lives.
