Lost Garmin 305 - Djouce - Thursday 10th

Paul Coyne asked me to post this for him.

He lost his Garmin Edge 305 on a night spin in Djouce last Thursday night (10th).

If anyone has found it send me a PM or to Paul (Coyner)

It's probably being used by badgers like the one I lost up there earlier in the year, good luck finding it Paul.

bit late but you need to tether them onto the bar.
I loosened the screw on the back of mine and attached one of those mobile phone lanyards
(just the tiny end piece that unclips) which i push through the rubber band and it's saved mine twice.

I also had a cable tie around it but it looked poxy so got rid of it.

Also kept meaning to stick my name and number on it so if found the finder could find me .... but never did that either ... Doh !!!!

I wonder if there is a way of contacting garmin about lost units and when someone connects a lost or stolen one to a computer that it pings out the ip address?
It's just a thought

There is a thing called "Gamin Lock" but it's not compatible with all Garmin models afaik....

and then a SWAT team kick down the door, throw a series of flashbang grenades in and render the unsuspecting offender to Guantanamo Bay

why dont they have a gps tracker for your unit on garmin connect.....

its probably because of data privacy laws. I'm guessing the Garmin connect only holds data that you voluntarily sync to it.

similar to why Vodafone can't tell you where your lost phone is, even though they record all that data in case you make a 999 call. You'd need a court warrant, and a pretty decent reason (like offing the wife in the case of Joe O Reilly).

... if you were lost along with your GPS, that'd be a different story .....!

You can install This on your Smartphone which will allow you to track it and remotely lock it.. Haven't tried it myself as yet though...

Or you could try not going night riding with an expensive computer strapped to your bike!

Nahh sure just keep an eye on it, not hard to miss! :)

those things only work for gps enabled phones. It wouldn't work for a GPS cause it's not connected to a mobile network.

I think Terrys solution of tying it to the bike is the way to go.
